Not interested in the shorter odds personally, so have gone for the outsiders that can pull out big games instead to make GF day that little bit more interesting with minimal outlay.

So my picks are . . .

Andrew Mackie @ 31

Corey Enright @ 31

Michael Osborne @ 67

Mackie gets a lot of love from the media lately, Enright can rack up the disposals on his day and Osborne is an X factor.

A. Goodes :thumbsu:.

I think Selwood at $13 is a fair bet.
Selwood at $15 at sportsbet is better, but will I get greedy and go the double into Geelong winning paying $17 - probably because I think you have to be a super player to win it in a losing side (Ablett, Buddy, Hodge kind of league).

Might do the same with Bateman into Hawthorn, at $23.

My massive smokey, Harry Taylor to have an LRT style grand final, after being moved onto Buddy and keep him from touching the footy as well as rebounding from 50, throw him into Geelong at $101.

Could crawf go to another level on Gfinal day and win it at $41

Cats enright, mackie and milburn all have good odds and the hawks dont have the best half forwards could they dominate.

Think J.Selwood and Corey are good bets because they wont get tagged and there team is likely to win plus there midfielders who find alot of the footy.

Bateman to go with Ablett
Sewell to go with Bartel
Ling to go with Mitchell (none of those 6 will win it if they are shut down)

If Hawthorn are to win they'll need a big game from Buddy, so Hawks win-Franklin norm smith is worth a small bet.

Geelong will be too good though IMO so have to find a Geelong player.
The best players rise to the top in big games and after missing the brownlow Ablett will be fired up for a huge game and will win the norm smith IMO.
Other players a chance:
- Steve Johnson
- Scarlett if it is a close game and he does well on Franklin an outside chance.

Will be either Ablett or Franklin depending on who wins IMO.

Assuming he doesn't get dropped, best absolute longshot is Tom Lonergan ($71 with tab sportsbet).

If he can somehow kick 6+, he might get the sentimental vote for coming back from his life-threatening injury. Was BOG in the VFL grand final last year and kicked 7 goals...

You never know, everything might just go right for the Cats and Lonergan gets on the end of a few.

Everyone is looking for value and thats fair enough but Gazza is the fav for a reason.

He is no doubt the best player on the field and I reckon he will lift on the big day. I rekon the $7 is worth it. (and yes I am a rocket scientist for picking the favourite but the 7:1 is pretty decent for a favourite)

Blokes like Jordan Lewis are at $13, there is no way that he has half the chance of Ablett of winning. Good odds get on before he comes in:thumbsu:

using sportingbet odds i did:

$5 bartel @ 11
$5 corey @ 10
$2 ottens @ 21
$2 scarlett @ 26
$2 harley @ 51

given that its rained abit and rain is predicted, it should suit bartel.

corey gets a lot more media recognition then umpire recognition so hes a chance

ottens diminated last years grand final, so he might get more recognition in this years grand final if he plays like he did last year (or like last years prelim)

scarlett i dont think will spend much time on franklin (well not as much as everyone wants) but if franklin is quiet and scarlett gets his 20+ touches

i reakon harley will play his 'chop out' role infront of franklin and roughead and seeing that he polled 8(?) votes on the brownlow people might look at his game closer.

if it rains i would rule out scarlett and corey. ottens would be a massive influence for geelong in a wet game, as stated bartel is awesome in the wet and i reakon harley would/could still play the 'chop out'/3rd man up role really well

I truly believe this match will be won or lost in the midfield, hence my money will be on someone like Ling. If he can take out someone like Mitchell plus kick a few goals i think he'll take home the medal.

very hard to pick, but i think bartel if it rains.
also i think if geelong win, the key will be stopping buddy and roughead, so mackie and scarlett will be a chance coz they provide so much rebound and run too.
but if the hawks win, hodgey, especially after his performance last week, he is a superstar and will perform on the big day.

Agreed.

Ablett would be fired up from not winning the brownlow for a second year, out to prove to everyone he should have won it.

Vote givers may feel a bit sorry for him, so when if it came down to him and another player he may be an inch ahead.

Oh and just because he is a freak ;)

Not a big punter but so far i've got

$5 on Bartel Norm Smith @ $8 (was placed sunday)
$5 on Steve J/Bartel @ $5 (Steve J more goals than Buddy/Bartel more disp than mitchell
$5 on Ottens most disposals @ $301 (very unlikely but gives me something to watch)
$15 on Bartel H2H with Mitchell Most Disp @ 1.85
