Re: 2009 Trade Discussion - Part 7

You expect a 100 from Muston?

Well he DID get over 100 in his first two weeks and looks like a young Brendan Goddard.

I don't expect it, but it'd be nice if he could score a century again.

I don't think anyone really expected him to score so highly in his first two games, did they? He's obviously talented, but I'm genuinely suprised he's doing so well, coming off so many injury problems. Then again, Dermott Brereton did say before the start of the season that he thinks Muston is the most talented player at the Hawks, including Buddy Franklin.

Ive got three minutes, what do people think of Cheney -> Grima ?? im going to cop a 0 if I ive always planned on trading Cheney.....The other question is will he come in as a late inclusion??????

Come on fess up, who in here was stupid enough to trade Higgins?

Not me. You'd have to be a massve douche to trade him.

Ease up guys, Im sure there would have been a few peeps here that traded him. There was talk out of the club that he could miss up to 6 weeks with the injury. At the time it would have been a logical trade, especially with Higgo coming off a very poor score on his return from the injury.

As planned, I made 2 trades this week.

1) Beams to Muston - Had to bring Muston in. Had a few choices to downgrade (Otten, Coughlan, Hartlett, Beams) and thought hard about pulling the trigger on any one of those but decided to trade Beams. Otten still rising in price slightly and scoring well, Coughlan back into the Richmond team and a good scorer (scored well again tonight), Hartlett not playing this week but surely will be back soon, or Beams not playing and no certainty to reclaim his spot in the Collingwood side. Seemed a fairly straight forward decision for me in the end.

2) Ziebell to Steve Johnson - Have been looking forward to doing this trade for a little while now and I'm glad to finally get it done. Ziebell served me well but he has peaked and was never going to be a keeper for me. SJ is a superstar and coming up against West Coast this week, it looks like a really good week to get him in (is there a bad week? :p). Sure, I didn't get him at his lowest price, but I'm not concerned about that.

Couldn't pull the trigger on Pearce -> Kornes.

Looking at the run Port have - Pearce is likely to rack up the tons and the trade seemed a bit soft.

Next week
Rich -> Bartel.

Need Hartlett to get a few more games under his belt before Anthony gets back so I can make $200k there as well.

Have Chad and NGB on the bench - given the recurrence of the groin - NGB may need a trade - Chappy the most likely in 2 weeks

Is Bowden to risky to get? It's either him or Enright because Lockyer is a little out of price range and has 2 games against the Swans to go...

Thoughts?

Need some advice.. Now that it looks like drummond may be out for a week maybe.. I might have to pull the trigger on trading out cornes..

I'm looking at cornes > bowden/hodge/ellis/enright.. pretty keen on bowden.. as its pretty much a straight swap.. and once bowdens up and scoring again watch out.. got his stable 115 this weekend.. and has pretty much bottom out in price with a BE or 107 next week..

What are peoples thoughts on bowden.. now that the care taker coach will take over??? think he will get fazed out?

Similar situation, was looking at Ellis, but his score today, although hampered by limited game time because of injury is not promising.

I'm really not sure what to do. I'm going to have to settle for some rookies in my final 22.

I think a good smokey could be Gram.... but i wouldnt be trading Cornes down to him mabye if i had drummond and he was out for a while i would do a stait swap, but i dont.

I waited till this week for the Rich to bartel trade but the BE (On FF) for rich is 23 and bartel still has a BE of 120 should i wait another week and hope he drops more and rich goes up or do the trade this week for the extra 30-40 points bartel would get me? Bartel is playing freo next round so i would think a BE of 120 might be pretty easy for him to make. But thoughts appreciated

I have been waiting for weeks for Bartel to come down in price, and now it seems that he is potentially at his lowest $444 k, i had planned on picking him up for Rich after freeing up $ from Otten > Muston.

The thing is my team is a couple of players short of being complete, Rich / Sidebottom / Coughlan being the only players to upgrade.

What i was thinking is Mabye we are looking at Bartel with ''blinkers'' on, thinking that he has to be a lock on every team for the run home.

Yes he is cheap, but im seriously thinking about Dal Santo, at $366k averaging 105, another good game this weekend.

Would enable me to pick up another premium for either Cogs, or Sidebottom in a few weeks.

Is the extra $80,000 worth Bartell, or with people having 6-8 ave trades left remaining, is the cash and a player such as NDS a better option?

Will be thinking alot about this one all week. The other thing to consider is St Kilda have a good run home.

Then again Jimmy would be good to have with Gaz there already... Some big decisons for people to make over the next few weeks, with teams nearly being complete and trades running thin.

Kind of a situation I'm currently in.

I don't have many trades left, but only have 3 players (Rich, Ziebell and Muston) on the field that need upgrading. I have $300k so no more downgrades needed, and I think I'll have to keep Rich as my 6th mid.

Thinking of going:

1.
In: Bartel, Didak
Out: Robinson, Ziebell

Would leave Warren and Hentschel on the bench in the forwardline, so injured backups which wouldn't be great... Shift Muston to the bench and keep Rich on field - only rookie.

Or...

2.
In: Thompson/NDS, Didak
Out: Robinson, Warren

Would leave me with Ziebell on the bench with Hentschel, and again, Muston would be shifted to the bench with Rich on field.

Obviously the money is not an issue, but really comes down to whether getting Bartel is worth an injured bench, or just go for a cheaper option and have a reliable bench. Lots to consider.

Oh... and not getting Bartel would mean I don't have one of Ablett, Bartel or Corey... but I would have a full backline and forwardline of keepers.

Fantastic post! I am in the same boat - looking to do the same set of trades. i.,e i did otten to muston, was going to do rich to Bartel.

however i am weighing up whether i use the $250k I have upgrading houlihan ot goddard and sidebottom to didak.

Then again i do have a number of trades left (12)- so maybe i do bartel now and get the others later.

Yeah Bowden too risky IMO, who are you trading out?

I'm looking at similiar options for Cornes who i will be trading because of Drummonds injury. I was also looking at Mundy who is underpriced at the moment.

Edit: As I'm looking at Bowden know he's becoming even more tempting.
