It starts this weekend folks!

The majority of coaches will be getting some extremely easy opponents this week, so I hope no one loses in round 1.

Good luck to all in the 2012 Eliminator!

FWIW, I'm playing Geordie Boys, ranked 229,422 overall, with a round 5 score of 1,039! I'm pretty confident I'll get the win :p.

Short of not picking a team at all that has to be one of the worst possible scores (assuming they aren't trying to be a spud). No matter how bad your knowledge of DT/footy is surely you could crack 1k??!

I can beat that! Last year I played a guy with a Collingwood autofill team during Collingwood's first bye round! Won 2156 - 0 :)

My eliminator ranking is also lower than my overall, perhaps it's got something to do with your last score rather than overall?

It's based on your last score. Last year I was ranked 500 odd yet wound up having to play a top 20 team because my previous round score was shit.

My current overall ranking is 17k & but my eliminator ranking is 60k.

Eliminator rankings for each week are determined by the rank of your past round score. So if you are ranked 500 overall, but your round rank is 4000, then your eliminator ranking is 4000 for that week.

Not a fan of the way they determine the matchups.

Should be based on overall = 1st vs Last, 2nd vs 2nd last, etc.

That would be a snooze fest for the first 10 rounds.

I like how it ranks on your weekly score, means to win it all you have to stay above the rest of the pack EVERY single week.

1 poor week and your up against it.

My opponent doesn't have a single player selected. Winning :)
His ranking: 266 781 out of 266 868. Lmao.

So, my eliminator ranking is 77 and I am playing Lalor Stars who is ranked 241020...

TBH, I didnt think there was that many entries this year :D

I am not going into this game too cocky; however young Lalor had 18 players that didnt take to the field last week.

I will look to field my best side though as he does have 2 trades to use this week and has the added luxury of not having to worry about Ablett, or for that matter Swan, Pendles, Mitchell, Boyd, Thompson, Selwood, Rockliffe, Murphy.

If Merret, Maquire, Pokinghorne, Harwood, Harvey, Yeo, Zorko, Weardon, Retzlaff and Lisle all fire though I am ****ed!

Interesting he doesnt have Rockliffe TBH.

My opponent has such DT guns as Harry O and Nick Maxwell, and has to trade out Josh Kennedy (WCE). Failing a total disaster it should be an easy win.

I like the eliminator system, as it means you have to use a far different strategy compared to winning the overall competition.

First year playing DT, and couldn't find the answer on the site, so forgive a possibly stupid question, but other than a warm feeling, what does the winner of the Eliminator win?

Always beware the blank team, plenty just enter to fill in their team at start of Rd6 specially for eliminator.

also thought it was only top 262,144 teams that are participating.

Exactly, they still have an unlimited number of trades.

They still particpate in the eliminator because they registered early on even though their team is still incomplete.
