Hi guys,

The Club’s 2012 Membership campaign will be launched on Thursday morning.

I’ve spoken to The Old Dark Navy's and Aphrodite and they’ve suggested we set up this thread to answer any questions you might have about changes to the 2012 Membership structure.

Clinton Bown, Nicole Rowlings and the team in Membership have all been briefed about this and are expecting your questions, so please don’t hesitate to ask.

Here are the changes that have been announced so far:

MCG Away Reserved Seating – For members with an away game reserve seat only.
- All tenant clubs that have previously had their away seats allocated in the Olympic Stand will, from 2012, be allocated reserved seating in the Southern Stand.
- Members who purchase an away game reserve seat will receive their renewal forms without their MCG seat allocated as this will happen in the New Year.
- We will endeavour to allocate each member a similar seat position in the new bays and if not possible the seating will be in the next best available.

The second change will impact more members and we expect to receive a number of enquiries in relation to the change.

The reclassification of Level 2 seating at Etihad Stadium and the MCG - This will affect 2500 members who are currently Football Gold (called Members Reserve in 2012)
- Level 2 seating will be exclusive to Captain Club Members, the premium membership category.
- Level 2 is the most premium seating at both venues. We have a ‘waitlist’ of members who wish to purchase Level 2 Captains Club membership.
- A Captains Club membership is the only way to guarantee access to a Grand Final ticket should Carlton participate.
- Members who do not wish to upgrade can retain their Members Reserve membership in 2012 and they will be allocated the best available reserve seats on either level 1 or level 3 (their choice).

No doubt we’ll be inundated both at the Club and online, so although we mightn’t be able to respond straight away, we will answer your question.

Here’s hoping we smash the 50,000 member mark in 2012!

Can we have membership badges?

Hi Luca,

Great initiative to start this thread!

I have a couple of questions:

Firstly, my dad and I had standard gold captains club memberships in 2011 (upgraded to captains club from standard gold a couple of years ago, basically to avoid the rush for access to guaranteed grand final tickets). In 2012, will we have the option to remain as captains club members with our level one seats?

Secondly, if this category no longer exists will we then have to join the waiting list for captains club level 2 seats?
The guaranteed access to grand final tickets was a big reason for upgrading to captains club a couple of years ago, so obviously we’d be pretty disappointed if we were to lose this privilege next year. So i'm interested to see what our options are.

Thanks.

Does this mean the club won't be running the Club 17 option next season for guaranteed access to GF tickets should the blues participate?

Great stuff Luca,

Have to admit when I heard the club was completely overhauling the membership part of the website from the standard one size fits all format to a more professional custom format the prospects for the 2012 season became very bright.

Very exciting to anticipate what the club has to offer. With yourself, Clint Bown and many other working hard behind the scenes the experience of becoming a member of the mighty Carlton Football Club online, from a PC, phone or tablet is likely to be a much smoother process in 2012.

I reckon the 50,000 target is a great one.

I encourage every Carlton supporter to check out the new membership page on the site when it comes online, even if you may have had a bad experience in the past.

The club is now truly embracing the supporter base online and that is good for everyone that has even the slightest inkling of love for the club.

If you can buy your membership online, give it a go. Carlton membership, priority number one!

If you can, please also consider add-ons such as the Spirit of Carlton and the Women of Carlton among others. We are all part of the big blue family working towards putting Carlton back where it belongs. Numero Uno. :)

The CFC representation here alone says, "We care"

That it does Harks. I'd suggest they have always cared, but we now have dedicated and qualified people in specialised positions and they are now able to convey that care factor.

It inspires confidence, and let's hope the club are savvy enough to make sure that these people are kept in their positions and continue to make forward progress.

What happened to my 30 Years Membership badge please? Also, will I find romance this season? Lonely, Kinglake.

Hey Lonely, Kinglake
Predicting you may find romance in 2012, only if your on level 2.
Once you find romance on level 2 you won't worry about your 30 year badge ;)

For club members, yes. But just remember guys that for Carlton AFL members you are pretty much guaranteed access to tickets, should Carlton participate, having access to tickets come Sunday morning.

(I know you weren't discussing AFL membership but just thought I'd point that out to avoid any confusion.)

Good work CFC and mods :thumbsu:

Can we get clarification on the credit/debit card direct debit changes?

Hi zeeCFC,

For 2012 there has been a slight change to the set-up of our payment plans when paying your membership in monthly instalments.

The Club no longer accepts payment via a bank account when setting up your payment plan. We now only accept Credit Cards and Debit Cards as a method of payment.

This decision was made as we had no control over savings accounts. This way, if members do miss a payment for one reason or another, the Club is able to manually take out the payment at a suitable time for the member rather than doubling up their payment in the following month.

Is there a way to get 17 GA entries, and a gauratneed access to GF tickets?

Hi Blueinblood,

Yes there is. You have two options to ensure you have guaranteed access to the Grand Final if Carlton participates.

Your first option is to have a Captains Club General Admission 17 Game Membership. Below are the prices and benefits for the Captains Club Membership category.

Captains Club General Admission Prices:
Adult 17 $551.00
Concession 17 $256.00
Captain Carlton Junior 17 $147.00
Family 17 $1,183.00

Captains Club benefits include guaranteed access to purchase a Grand Final ticket if Carlton is participating, priority access to purchase finals tickets in weeks 1 to 3 if Carlton is participating, general admission/walk-up seating for designated number of Carlton games (subject to capacity), access to level 1 walk-up seating for home games (subject to capacity), match day access to the Captains Club room at the MCG and Etihad Stadium, opportunity to purchase Captains Club guest passes for home games (subject to capacity) as well as Member benefits.

These benefits include your personalised membership card, member scarf, lanyard, ticket wallet, member stickers, fridge magnet, member discounts for official Carlton merchandise at The Carlton Shop, two editions of ‘Inside Carlton’ magazine, exclusive weekly emails from Coach Brett Ratten, free entry to Northern Blues Visy Park home games and eligibility for voting rights (for members over 18 years of age).

Your second option would be to buy a Club 17 Add-On which is $195.00 on top of a current 2012 Membership. Below are the prices and benefits of a Club 17 Add-on.

Members General Admission Prices:
Adult 17 $296 + $195 = $491.00
Concession 17 $157 + $195 = 352.00
Captain Carlton Junior 17 $82 + $195 = $277.00
Family 17 $592.00 + $780 = $1,372.00 ($780 = $195 for each family member)

The benefits of the Club 17 Add-On are the guaranteed access to purchase a Grand Final ticket should Carlton participate as well as an exclusive lapel pin.

Hi juddalicious,

Your membership can be renewed as a Captains Club Reserved Seat Membership with a level 1 seat. If you do wish to move your seat from level 1 to level 2, you can do this as well.

All you need to do is fill in a reserved seat request form which you will be able to download from our website at www.iamcarlton.com.au as of tomorrow (10th of November).

If we are unable to allocate you a seat on level 2, you will retain your current level 1 seat. If you're interested, we can place you on the level 2 waitlist at a cost of $10 per person. Please note, we cannot give you a definitive answer as to when we will be able to allocate a level 2 seat for you and your father.

Hi blueboy25,

We will still be running the Club 17 Add-On option for members who don’t opt-in to the Captain Carlton Membership and have a Members General Admission or Members Reserve Membership.

Hi Luca,

This year the Captains Club walk up area on level 1 was pretty much at capacity most games, and a lot of people struggled to get seats. It was particularly bad at the dome where if you didn't arrive about an hour before the bounce you may as well have forgot about it.

Will the club be making another bay/more areas exclusively available for CC GA members?

Hi Cookie Monster,

The bays for the Captains Club walk-up area at both Etihad Stadium and the MCG are monitored by the amount of Captains Club General Admission Memberships we sell.

At the start of the season we had 5 bays allocated for the Captains Club walk-up area at Etihad and 3 bays allocated at the MCG. Half way through the season we found that only about 3 out of the 5 bays at Etihad were being utilised so 2 of the bays were sold back to Etihad Stadium.

We continued to monitor this after the decision was made to sell back two of the bays and we weren’t finding that we were having any problems with the change in allocation. Clinton and the team have told me that the allocation of General Admission walk-up areas at both stadiums for Captains Club Members will again be monitored throughout the 2012 Season.

Luca.

CFCM,
I currently have a Captains Club Gold Premium Adult 18 membership (with seats on level 2). I'm signing the significant other (Sorry Thy, not you) this year and, not realising how embarrassing I am at games, she wants to sit next to me.

If there's a waiting list for level 2, is this going to be a problem?

Hi AlecDuncan,

No guarantees, but if you download a seating request application and specify that you and your partner would like to be seated next to each other, the Club will do its best to make it happen.

The request form is available from iamcarlton.com.au and will be available from Friday. Make sure you clearly state your current seat number.

If, for whatever reason, we are unable to seat the two of you next to each other, we'll notify you with all of the available options.

Hey Luca,

I am currently a silver concession 11 member. But I was thinking about changing to an AFL silver conession membership due to the amount of games you are allowed to attend to.

Obviously I won't be able to go to all 40 games there, but still 40 games of footy a year is very appealing to me. Particularly when I start playing footy next season, I'd wanna be able to go to some games other than our own just for the purpose of watching specific players and learn from them.

I've been told there is a big joining fee for a first year, so I was wondering if you can give me some clarifications on the Carlton AFL memberships? Also will AFL members get members scarf in 2012?
