NFC THOUGHTS
Eli got a bit lucky with a couple of late misses, probably would have backed in Stafford by this point, but Eli standing alone as the reason for us even being in the running for the playoffs probably pushed him over the top.

Rivers as third AFC QB = lol. Wouldn't be in the top 5 NFC QBs this year (Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Romo, Stafford.

Thought Witten had a better year than Gonzo, but that's me. Can't complain either way. Graham clear winner.

Didn't think Fitz was all that this year, but that's more of a subset of the QB play rather than his. Then you look at his stats and they're far superior than it seemed by his actual gameplay footage. Early year, Smith gets it easy, and I reckon Jennings was harshly done by not being the starter, alas injuries slowed him down at the end of the year.

Nice to see JPP get the loving he so richly deserves, and that was without getting a potential fan vote. Beast.

Would have been nice for them to factor in run stopping at DE, though it's a bit hard to turn down someone with Babin's stats in one phase of the game, despite being a 100% liability in the run game.

Would have gone Jenkins over either Raji or Ratliff, probably Raji. Then again, it might be a subtle attempt to make it a potentially legitimate team if theyre going pure passrush at DE.

Clay Matthews = ****ing lol as starter

The starting and backup ILB should have gone to Bowman and Willis, double the 9ers.

Woodson starting CB = no no no, but then I couldn't think of who SHOULD have gotten in.

AFC THOUGHTS
Schaub would have gotten in by a mile if he remained healthy. Rivers was shit, despite his stats, but that's due to the AFC QBs being mediocre in general this year.

Gotta feel for FJax getting IRed, though I doubt his superior stats would have overcome the 'star power' of MJD, Foster and Rice. One of four would have felt harshly done by if he remained healthy. Add in the potential of McFadden if he stayed upright.

AFC WR corp also looks decidedly average with AJ going down early. Each position seems to be following a common path.... Marshall = meh, statwhore. AJ Green making it though was great.

The GRONK. Won't match this years stats ever again, but that'll open up the other passing lanes.

Freeney? Dumervil? Subset of the 3-4 AFC I spose, but not a healthy looking DE Corp. Ngata should be here, not DT.

Von ****ing Miller = Mother ****ing Gun. Just everywhere, such a huge impact for a rookie. Smith has the stats, Miller has the leadership role downpat already. Scary.

Derrick Johnson turned around a quiet start to have a great year, probably better than Lewis, but that whole star power thing...

CBs still look scary good. Imagine if Asomugha was still over there (And played in proper position)

No Byrd love at FS? Reed had a shit year, didn't deserve to come close. Polamalu sort of similar, didn't think he was great.

Wow, some real head scratchers.

Agree with most of Zarko's observations, Rivers selection was ridiculous.
Stafford unlucky.

BJ Raji???? Are they serious? Ok i've only seen about 4-5 Packers games and his play in those games has ranged from crap, average. ok, good, ok.

Freeney? Reed? Polamalu ....all picked on past deeds.

Biggest gripe is Texans' centre Chris Myers missing out, he's been outstanding. 153 yards per game average, No 2 in rushing and not one OL picked? Myers has got to be one of the best run blockers in the NFL, he destroyed defenders this season.

AFC CBs who could have made it based on good play this year
Revis
Bailey
Webb (Underrated year)
Flowers
Joseph

Rogers probably the only NFC name that deserves the come close to that list.
+Haden

Also, amazed Newton didn't make it. Greatest rookie season by a QB, travesty.
Aldon Smith is likely to break rhe record for the most sacks by a rookie, yet he's not their either.

I'm happy overall with the 49ers representation, Kicker and Punter, oh yeah baby.:p:D

That's a technicality based on the fact that he hasn't been named starter all year, which is a prereq to getting a nom IIRC.

Better than Clay Friggin' Matthews year though.

Andy Dalton was named a first alternate. It's nice, but really it was a massive blunder he wasn't the #3, and Rivers out of there.

OLB is a very difficult position, so many players miss out there. I guess they considered A.Smith's effort comes from the back of so much talent at the DL and ILB. Whereas Packers C.Matthews is the play-maker there. But there are others who missed out, just too many to pick 2 starters from.

Very glad to see Slater get acknowledgement. Even though he probably only got selected by being a pat, he really deserved it.
I lol'd at pats starting guards, Logan has been very average this year.
The usual players make it on name alone - Lewis, Wilfork (down year as well), Freeney, Gates. The pats should have had starting TEs rather than guards.
Anyway, hopefully none of the pats are there expect Carter who goes to pick up his money

Gates deservedly got in. He's like the only weapon/target on that team. Whereas the Pats have numerous options that make them hard to cover. But Gates faces constant heat, has been struggling with injuries, and his numbers for 12 games played are not pfft at all.

Gronkowski-Gates was the right selection there.

But you're right, a lot of the time players make the pro-bowl based on the PREVIOUS year(s) efforts. Like Oscar awards kinda.

Eli in over Romo is a bit of a laff. Romo with 7 more TDs/ 4 less INTs, a better completion % and done playing with a busted rib for a month.

Ah well.

Stafford deserves a shout as well, although Eli did lead the league in "Most times a quarterback made a stupid looking face after throwing an interception", a very important category.
