Check out this sight for sore eyes tweeted by the Lions earlier.

Bloody hell, Michael looks like Dave Taylor there.

From watching the last few ressies games he was very agile as well. Definitely an impressive athlete. If he can learn to use his strength he could be a dangerous prospect.

LIONS coach Michael Voss has pulled the reins on Jonathan Brown and Simon Black, sparing the club champions from the toughest block of pre-season training.

Brown made a brief appearance at the teams first session of the summer campaign, a day after the birth of his second child Jack, a little brother to Olivia

Black did not take part in the 2km time trial but ran for most of the session and will leave with half the group on Wednesday for a training camp in Arizona.

I think it's important to note that they seemed to have split the group this year into 2 for the time trials. Crisp sounds like he won the first group & I think it's assumed by some that means he won overall. But do we have that conclusively stated somewhere?

Reigning club champion Joel Patfull went within inches of winning the 2km time trial, pipped on the line by young midfielder Jack Crisp in a sprint finish

Doesn't really specify if it was the heat or the whole lot, but I read this to mean that this particular heat ran it faster than the other.

Hi all

Crisp and Patfull came in neck and neck in the first time trial at around 6.36 (with Niall 2 seconds behind them). Rohan Bewick shot past Sam Michael in the last 30m of the second time trial, and came in around 6.39.

So if we want to be technical, Crisp and Patfull were the winners with the fastest time!

Newell, who dominated last year's 3km, had shoulder surgery in the off-season so is not quite at the same fitness levels as he was entering last year's pre-season.

I KNEW Joelly wouldn't let me down! If I had a house I'd be putting it on Joel for back-to-back Merrett-Murray Medals!

Throughly impressed with what I saw today, not just from the Underrated One, but from all the boys!

I reckon this title might have to be put to bed at this stage, don't you think Kezz?

Not until he wins a flag or his second B&F. People have short memories (look at how quickly people have cooled off Tom Rockliff for example).

Plus it just suits really. "The Once Underrated Now Sort Of Recognised One" is a bit of a mouthful.
