Updated team:

Defenders: Goddard, Gibbs, Yarran, Pearce, Armstrong, Vlastuin
subs: Van Unen, B.Goodes

Midfield: Ablett, J.Kennedy, Hartlett, Scully, Lewis Jetta, O'Meara, Wines, Swallow
subs: Crouch, Viney

Rucks: Maric, Leuenberger
subs: Gorringe,Currie

Forwards: Bartel, Petterd, Krakouer,Thornton, Zorko, Wright
Subs: Daniher, Lee

Left: 41,100

Suggestion VanUnen to Terlich and Daniher to Macaffer as both are more likely to play round 1
Krakouer is yet to be sighted in the preseason as far as i'm aware so he might need replacing...
also keep an eye on lueuenberger as he's in unlikely to play early territory too due to recent set back.

Cheers VSTone, I believe i have Macaffer on my SC, and now i think about it i believe i had made that exact same trade earlier in the night, but my laptop froze and i lost a heap of DT trades, i was bound to miss one or two!

Just saw a article that had Van Unen competing with several players for his spot, Whereas Terlich at the Dees has less competition, and should get games more often as you said :thumbsu:

Defenders
Omit Yarran and replace with Hartlett (Yarran far too inconsistent)

Forwards
Omit
Petterd - Rookie Listed
Krakouer - Inconsistent and no pre-season
Thornton - better value players

Try to bring Rockliff into the forwards; exceptional value.

Sorry, didnt see your post before i had posted and you've made some good points, i dont know how i miss Petterd on the rookie list!
about to head off, but will do some tweaking tomorrow and see what happens :thumbsu:

Have read a bit more, as beau waters hasn't played a lot of time during pre-season, was thinking of changing waters for Hanley.... Thoughts?

Where's my dogtags fool? Wait who am I?

Going in with three fwd rookies is incredibly risky this year, as none of them are guaranteed games, nor are they guaranteed not to get the vest. Your R2 and perhaps D4 are some potential targets to downgrade for some extra cash.

Apart from that, nice structure and great player selections. :thumbsu:

Thanks mate. Yeah, I wasn't too sure about where to have my rookies. Hard this year. I had Jacobs as a rookie and Roughhead in the forward line instead. Would this be better?
It's a tough one, since most people here wouldn't even risk starting two rookies; a lot of people have made sure that Macaffer is the only one in their side (not a rookie I know, but rookie priced) since it's been really hard to gauge the forward rookies this year. I'd be looking to upgrade one of Lee/Kennedy to a premium, and the other to a mid-pricer to be honest. You've got Cox with R/F DPP, so a move to the forward line for one of your other premiums and then starting a ruck rookie would free up some cash. An alternative would be to downgrade one of your defensive premiums to a mid-pricer if you've got your eye on any in particular.

Still playing around what do you guys reckon??

Hey guys just wondering what you think of this team so far?

116K left. Still a bit of tinkering to do i think. But im reasonably happy with it.
One of the first teams i've ever seen with Shaw, i'll be interested to see how he goes. He's certainly below what he can put out in the past, butttt

i'd spend the 116 k on turning Dusty into Rockliff and Shaw or Birchall into Grimes or Stanley...

Or you could perhaps downgrade a mid to a slightly cheaper one and then use that money plus the 116k to upgrade one of byrnes or varcoe

Hey guys, made a few changes and here is what I have, any more tips would be appreciated. Not sure how to milk more out but I have plenty of cash left, I don't want to get Swan as I think he is too high priced and his break even would be around the 140 mark.... not sure if it's possible to sustain that but I guess we will see. $182 700 left in the bank.

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Golby, Goodes, Stevenson, Terlich, Docherty and N. Wright

Mids: Ablett, Cotchin, Pendlebury, A. Swallow, Murphy, S. Selwood, Wines, O'Meara, Viney, Crouch

Ruc: Luenberger, Currie, Rowe, Gorringe

Fwd: Cox, Bartel, J. Kennedy, Martin, Rockliff, Varcoe, Macaffer, Lee

First time DTer.

I've redone the team several times, this is the latest iteration. Not sure if the "right" direction is to take a few premiums or load up on the gun rookies... Any feedback appreciated.

That's a lot of Suns. Your preference and you're obviously passionate, but three in one line is possibly overdoing. They'll split the points, and it's inefficient. Maybe look to ditch one, but your call. But don't ditch Ablett!

Scotland isn't playing in the first two round and Waters has had a very poor pre-season (great when he's up and about though!), so look elsewhere in your backs, and immediately downgrade at least one the back premiums to the forward line. Not going to tell you who, but a popular pick like Rockliff or Bartel wouldn't hurt. Your forward bench is non-existent and it's unlikely Stringer or Daniher will even play. Varcoe as your F3 is nuts, but if you want to load up on midpricers, make sure they'll get games - popular picks like Karnezis, Byrnes, etc. Brent Macaffer is in every team for a reason - he's cheap and will get games, and forward rookies are very thin on the ground this year.

Rucks are strong, as are back and mid rookies (though don't know much about Corr).

Hope this is helpful and non-bossy.

Ouuuuuch
Where have you spent your money??

Ohh i see 5 premium back and 2 premium rucks

Joey D - Unlikely to play consitent games - unlikely to play round 1 - will not score above 60
J. Stringer - unless something has changed since his ankle sprain his job security is still questionable, ankle injury surely can't help that, will score decently though i think around the 70+ range if given freedom on the hff but he is also quite expensive so you'd expect a 70 from him
Patton - will play but wont break the half century. Will increase by about 100k but over the course of around 8-9 weeks
Varcoe - won't average above 70 should be decent for security with safe job secuirty but i think you can find better

Grundy wont play for 8 weeks
Scotland out for the first two weeks (only a problem if you care about overall position as match ups dont start till round 3)

You have a lot of problems to fix

Start by cutting one to two defence premiums completely, downgrading on def premium to a slightly cheaper/hopeful improver
Cut one of your rucks or move Cox to the fwd line

Spend all the cash you save in the forward line

2/10
