What I wouldn't give for an extra 50k right now. :p

So close to being ecstatic with my team. Somebody convince me that having Embley in my team is a good idea.

There are bugger all other players priced @ 264k who can easily average 90-95, it's just a shame that he's a mid only, otherwise he'd be in every team this year. I still haven't completely closed the M6 door on him at this stage.

Yeah, he's my M6 at the moment. With five midfield premos I figure I can afford to have a cheaper mid-pricer there. Still debating the forward line too; if I downgrade Siposs to Byrnes I can upgrade Embley to Bennell. Problem is, I don't have faith in Embley's or Byrnes' scoring abilities this year. :p

changed forward line a little but still not 100%. also unsure about ruc rookies. criticism more than welcome!

yeh embley is decent value for money...but im not convinced...

He should average 5-10 ppg less than Priddis and is only half his price. What's not to like?

I stand by my claim that Frenchie is a bad pick. I just don't see him or Priddis as DT players. Would consider both for SC though.

yeh interesting points regarding embley's value for money, will certainly consider swappign them, but with Priddis averaging 93.6 last year what WOULD you consider a "DT player" ? Not having a go just wondering what your basing that on...

For 482k I would expect a better average than 93.6 that's for sure. At that price point, if you aren't 95% confident that the player is capable of averaging 105-110+ he's not worth it IMHO.

Hop on the Kane Train!

played mixed AFL 9's at Claremont's home ground last yr and being perth, and a completely ungraded competition, ended up playing against Kane and his Claremont teammates. As well as being a gun just an all round top bloke. They where light hearted, good sports and giving me and my completely unskilled first time footy player team mates tips and encouragement.

comparatively on a different week we played matt de boer and his mates (not team mates) and they where the biggest sausage pirates. Taking themselves and a social game way too seriously, tried to pile drive a tiny 16 yr old boy cos he was the only gun on our team, calling my brother a "bad sport" for not giving him the ball straight away, when truth was he didn't understand it was his free kick cos umps have no clue.

Anyway irrelevant, but his work ethic and attitude are as impressive as his abilities. Hopefully he gets some games early on.

I sort of hope he doesn't as he is now linked to my SANFL team and I think he could have a HUGE impact there!

Priddis averaged 105 in 2011 though. So he is sort underpriced for his potential. Could see him getting back to that average or more with Wellingham in the side. I guess the question is will Wellingham effect his role at all?

Didn't realise he has averaged 110+ previously..very surprised considering his historically poor kick to handball ratio. It's not just Wellingham, Eagles have a few up and coming gun mids...we'll see

He was actually very good in 2011, averaged 26 possessions and close to 8 tackles a game. Where his game lacks is that he doesn't mark all that often and is very handball happy. Still he has averaged 105+ and he can easily do it again this year...just as i said, how will Wellingham in the side impact his role if any?

Don't think anyone can answer that question just yet...

On Embley:

if our mids and small/med forwards are all available for selection, I think he is a genuine sub risk. But I consider it unlikely that we will have this full team to select from, and so he will play in the 21 each week.

Schofield Glass Butler
Hurn Mackenzie Waters
Rosa S. Selwood Gaff
Masten Darling Hill
LeCras Kennedy Cox

Naitanui Shuey Kerr

Wellingham Priddis A. Selwood
S: Embley

E: Cripps/McGinnity/Sheppard/Brennan/Nicoski/Dick/Smith

Out of that team potential sub options could be Rosa, Gaff, Masten, Wellinham. You could make a good argument against all four of these getting the vest. A. Selwood isn't an option as we always play 7 defenders (he would be replaced by Brennan or Smith).

He's in my DT at the moment though, but I may leave him out if we are full strength going into round 1. Out of those listed Wellingham is a chance to miss for round 1 (and Naitanui too who will be replaced by Lycett). Kerr recovering from injury but looking good.

Not sure if it helps but here is how I see our best 22. It's tough to decide who would miss out for Embley to get a gig.

Kerr is still injured, yes? Will be lucky to be ready for Rd1 and could be a vest candidate early on. Also, team doesn't look well balanced with both Hill & LeCras. Personally I'd have Embley in Hill's position at HF and Hill as the designated sub.

Really, who's spot would he take? WCE have a plethora of very good HBF's already....
That's what I thought, too. I remember reading it in an article on the AFL website the other day because I couldn't stop laughing. He'd be a defensive liability.

Kerr has been running for ages. I think he'll play. But I suppose we're both just guessing.

I'd consider having two small forwards as pretty standard.

Possibly but he isn't the same Hill that was at the Bulldogs. I can't remember the exact stat but he was right up there in the comp with pressure acts last year. I don't think he would be any more of a defensive liability than other players sent back to be attacking (Yarran etc).

It's the first I have heard of him going back though. I don't think he is needed back there with Hurn, Waters and Schofield. The reports I was reading had him working on his tank so he could spend more time up on the wing. Nothing wrong with a forward line of Kennedy, Darling, Lecras, Hill, Masten/Shuey/Wellingham and a resting ruck though.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong mate, he's been a great pickup for you guys and no ill feelings from me. He does well in a good side, but when he's under pressure he can crumble a bit. In defense I think there'd be a bit too much pressure a bit too often. He's well and truly at home as a high forward and I think that's where he should stay.

It's not quite the Bulldogs forward line, but it's ok.... :p
