I think McKenna mentioned that Ablett and a few others were likely outs

Yeah it is hard to be on these games when the composition of the side is one of the most critical components to selecting winners.

Coupled with little information about reviews of games and the lack of importance, it may be ok to bet 1 or 2U here and there but to go over the top could be a little risky.

Then again if you can identify a weakness in the odds it would be in your best interest to exploit it.

Cant believe Willzzz was so close to nailing a bet of the Crows winning by over 100 points. If you saw the game the Crows were going to win by that margin at 3/4 time.

Why would you limit the margin to 39 when GWS are paying $4.00 to win and $4.00 under 1-39.... Just don't see the point

Correct, why increase the risk with the gain of just 10 cents.

Just as a heads up - Pinnacle are offering $4.01 HH on GWS. LOL

I felt both sides looked like garbage, however the conditions must be taken into consideration they were deplorable. It is hard to make a statement about either team when you observe the way the ground was before and during the game.

I actually managed to watch most of the game last night and I agree both teams played pretty poorly. I think it was expected from St Kilda considerng the players that were in for them, but it was a bad display from the WB. Their run from half-back just stopped after about half time. Their midfield group was good throughout though. I think McCartney was pretty disappointed with their display too in his post-match interview.

NAB Challenge - Greater Western Sydney vs Sydney Swans

2U - GWS + 22.5 @ $1.95 (Tatts)
0.5U - GWS/GWS HT/FT @ $6 (Tatts)
0.25U - GWS/Sydney HT/FT @ $7.50 (Sportingbet)

  • Greater Western Sydney are pretty much at full strength, whereas the Sydney Swans are missing most of their first-choice forwards & backmans.
  • The recruitment of Mumford, Shaw, Addison makes their team look a bit more balanced in terms of age and experience.
  • Sydney would have started pre-season 3 weeks after the Swans so they might be underdone.
  • GWS beat the Swans by 24 points in a preseason game last year so it's not like the Swans haven't lost to the GWS before and want to keep intact an unbeaten record.
  • Can see the GWS leading at half-time and possibly losing by a kick or two at the final siren so have taken the GWS/Sydney bet as a saver.

2U - Western Bulldogs HT/FT @ $1.83 (Luxbet) W
1U - Western Bulldogs -10.5 @ $1.90 (Sportingbet) W

Very lucky with the in-play bet getting over the line by half a point,
Thought I was going to pay for not

I was liking GWS all arvo, then decided to roll with it once I saw your bet.

Agree with your thoughts about the composition of teams. Thought about going HH but decided HF/FT glory. Kinda wished that I rolled with a HH bet, allows the game to be exciting for the entirety as opposed to just a half if you lose. Oh well.

If I lose I am solely blaming you for it and for cancer and all the other things that are wrong in my life lol! :p

Good Luck.

I would of thought it stopped just after the 1st quarter when they went scoreless in the 2nd quarter.... can understand why B Mac was steaming, going scoreless in a qtr against St Kilda even in a practice in bad conditions is unforgivable.
Yep, didn't see much of the 2nd quarter tbh so can't comment there, but judging from the scoring I imagine that would be the case.

Actually have a soft spot for the Doggies for some reason, think it might be the fact that they haven't won a premiership cup for ages, have struggled for a long time and then getting close but never into a GF for a few years.

Also, do enjoy their playing style and really like McCartney's coaching + their playing list at the moment.

You saved yourself the pain of watching that then. I cannot believe how close we were with the DOGS leading at HT by just 2 points!

Just reviewing the odds for this year, I wonder why a team like GWS has odds of just $501 to win the premiership?

Why not making it something like $1000? So that they can entice more punters to part and lose their money. I could not imagine a situation where they could win it, against the final 7 other teams in the 8. Similarly Melbourne could be in that boat as well. I mean even if they landed in the 8, the min number of games that they would need to win it would be 3.

Its not like that they dont post higher odds either.

In the World T20 competition. Nepal, UAE and Hong Kong are at $5000 to win the T20 which if you ask me given the nature of T20, while almost impossible it is not without plausibility that one of those teams could land in a semi (through rained out matches etc) and somehow manage to pull of two wins from that position.

GWS are a huge show tonight i reckon at great odds. No discredit to the Swans but they never have taken these matches seriously and are resting some guns.

I have taken a small nibble at both of these.....

Draw at the end of any Qtr at 9-1.

GWS winning margin 15-16pts at 50-1.

If anyone has a spare $8 lying around in their Betfair account, someone has offered up $10 about GWS H2H. Only a miniscule amount but overs are overs

I would but i self-excluded years ago and cant be bothered going through the rigmarole of re-opening my account!

Why would you limit the margin to 39 when GWS are paying $4.00 to win and $4.00 under 1-39.... Just don't see the point

Well at the time on sportsbet they were paying 3.50 for the win and 4.10 or something for the 1-39 margin
If they won i couldn't see it being by 40+ so that was my reasoning.
