Just watched a replay of our game against the Pies early last season. They were desperate to keep the ball wide--Buckley taking over Mick's playbook. The ball spent more time out of bounds than in the field of play. The new rule may result in a tweak of their bloody awful gameplan.
And how was Seedsman after he was subbed on? .......btw i watched same game yesterday ;)

The problem is the existence of a rules committee.

If you have a committee... they can't do nothing. Gotta do some tinkering otherwise what's the point of having a committee?
The rules committee doesn't do anything concrete anyway .......they discuss rules and interpretations, that's all .....any recommendations then goes back to the AFL for consideration

The Rules Committee changes absolutely nothing in the game

So the committee didn't set up and appoint themselves?

So the committee didn't set up and appoint themselves?
:confused:No? ......participants are nominated by the AFL in an honorary capacity ........Kevin Bartlett resigned from the committee, as did David Darcy ...because many members feel the AFL do not listen enough to the committee

$170 is a lot in comparison to getting Foxtel for ~$300 for the season plus in addition getting soccer and cricket if you follow those sports. While I dont watch much else you also get a shit load of junk channels which some may be to your liking as well. Mind you the National Geographic channels and the top drama channels are fairly decent.
Can you get one week at a time like AFL live with this method. I just got the Hola extension. I'll only enable it when needed though as it sounds a bit dodgy in that it sells your bandwidth to who knows who. Will try cast to the TV. Would there be any decent other footy content on there which made the $168 a year worthwhile?

The bigger protected area could result in many unjustified 50s, could be mayhem.

The deliberate rule will be enforced super strictly for 6 weeks and then gradually go back to almost this years interp. Just watch.
Then there will be a bye week umpire review and the umps will go crazy and over compensate (like that Essendon/North game where the ump pinged Smack and others multiple times for ruck infringements and Wayne Cambell had to do a media round the Monday after cause it was so ridiculous)

Remember the sliding rule. Crows and Essendon were the first I think to trial it. The ground was absolutely water logged and it poured with rain. The umps applied it as though it were dry and while we got to the ball first continuously we gave away a ton of free kicks to be the team that was first to the ball and definitely played better but lost the game because of the strick interpretation of the umpiring being tested for the first time in atrocious weather.

I was so pissed!!

Interesting how this impacted on Troy Menzel last year ?

They call it the Fat Club and it is, plainly, the club no one at Carlton wants to be a member of.

Each player had to have less than 12 per cent body fat – as measured by skinfolds – or be put into the Fat Club
to undertake intense training to reduce skinfolds and improve running times before rejoining the main group.

Most clubs have their own arbitrary standards to measure players' fitness levels, but this change at Carlton saw at its worst point this pre-season 10 players in the Fat Club. As of late last week that number had been trimmed – pardon the pun – to one and that player was expected to also leave

"Definitely the standards and expectations on physical conditioning have been raised from last year," one Blues insider said.

Some Carlton players have battled with the new levels despite being diligent workers. A player such as Ed Curnow is an elite runner yet has always carried more weight in skinfolds testing so is understood to have struggled to meet the new standard.

Interesting that the rugby 7s are visiting the club as Nick Poulos is their fitness boss so was no doubt the reason they visited. A lot of people have assumed we dumped him to get burton back to the club. It doesn't look like there are any hard feelings so perhaps Poulos left because he wanted to be involved with an Olympic team.

Very interesting. I note that they mentioned Kedge and Wright as being elite in their training and preparation. That's a huge positive for our club, and probably helps to explain why Betts has made such an impact since coming over to us. If we maintain or improve on our own standards, the question should be how will it impact on Menzel this year?

I recon Riley was the first victim in that game. right in the goal square.

It's an interesting one with Menzel, I for one hope he has a break out year fitness wise this year, But I tend to think it may take until 2017 for him to get to top fitness.

Positively, so long as he continues doing his training sessions & remains uninjured. Played under duress last year so didn't see the best of him.

Big Sauce was sinking a few gentle giants at the Port Vic pub Saturday night.:thumbsu:
Apparently Dangerfield is blitzing all team mates at Geelong during pre season training and no one wants to go competitive with him; the whole lot of them are worn out. They cant wait to be playing with him and not against him.

Good to hear. Now someone post some Troy Menzel highlights.

No doubt Figjam himself passed that on to Big Sauce...

Latest Seeds interview...mentioned a few players to watch this year. Deers name mentioned again. Big interest seeing how he goes injury free this year. Could be a big player for the club down the track
Hope so. Would be a steal if he comes on as a long term key forward option. What was he, pick 60 or something? And was available FS.
