Sorry just posted in the other thread that hampton is pressuring Seedsman, Atkins and hendersons spot in the team so not far away but not in the 25 ( just )
Not that I had a chance to see Rat properly this year, but I imagine it may be Menzel who will be more direct competition ?

looking through some of the lists here I feel like there might be a bit too much like for like substituting going on.

I just get the feeling we might structure up very differently next year, but there's a hell of a lot of water to go under the bridge yet anyway. Can't really make a call on any of the guys we've brought in at this stage given they're all talented under performers.

preseason is going to be critical for the new guys... has there been any word on how the sessions are going to be run? Curious to know if we'll carry on with Walsh's "behind closed doors" approach.

C'mon Grigg. That's exactly what we need. I'd love him to have a break out year in the midfield. I want an inside mid with an elite leg, toughness and side step.

Problem is probably can't have Grigg & M.Crouch in the same midfield. Not to mention Thompson for one more year.

Griggs always been pretty fit, but good to see him and Jake out the front.

If Grigg really smashes this preseason, it could make for some interesting discussions around our best 22.

Players tend to go 2 ways when in Griggs position, they either step up to the challenge or fall back into the pack never to be seen or heard from again. It's certainly a good start to see him dominating the runs.

Grigg has talent, the issue he has is that his pace is such that he can't forge a career as a specialist wingman/flanker. He needs to become a midfielder and to do that he needs to maximise his strength in endurance running and become a contested beast like a Scott Thompson or Luke Hodge.

He obviously has good skills, is a good decision maker, is generally clean with the footy and reads the play well. He really just needs to show dedication and commitment to the cause to round out his game.

At present, he needs to be looking to knock either a Scott Thompson or a Matt Crouch out of the side. Obviously a massive challenge, but if he wants his career to continue, that's where he has to be aiming.

News.com.au also reports a third 2km time trial was done at the end of the session and won by CEY over Ramsay, grigg, Smith and lever

I like seeing all of those guys up front
awesome CEY- that's what he needs to do

that's why Lyons is not going to make it , is never going to push his running up to the level he needs

Probably more impressed with CEY than Kelly or Grigg. Shows that he's going to have the endurance for repeat efforts deep into games which were perhaps missing slightly this season just gone.

Crouch Jr looking very trim

I'm always impressed by how huge Dear is through the torso. Would love to see what he can produce with a good injury free run.
Harry Dear is certainly one big unit just like his old man, could be the KPP player we are crying out for if he gets his big frame right over the pre-season, and cop the shoulders, biceps and upper body Matt Crouch is building, going to be hard to shift of the pill next year I reckon....Dean Gore also looks to be building some serious upper body strength early on in his AFL career too.

That's why he will leap frog Lyons in a flash , has extra professionalism and has always presented looking super fit even in U18s

Dear also has a decent turn of speed too that he displayed for one of his goals against South. Surprised the hell out of me watching it live (it doesn't look as good on the vision that got put up on youtube). I think he could be a nice late 'steal' of the draft, if as you say, he gets a decent injury free run. The kid had only played 8 games over 3 years!

There seems to be a bit of a theme with our recruiting in that we have looked hard at players who injury issues and missed large chunks of their junior playing days - Talia, Lever, Doedee to name three
