Training 2015/16 preseason training (discussion)

Regardless of the Rose coloured glasses worn by some doing the training reports and/or the personal bias for or against certain players by others doing reports I enjoy all the reports.

The reports provide a sense of involvement and first hand information for us supporters who can't get there, and we know they are done by passionate Freo supporters (rather than hack journalists)

I look forward to more of your work in 2016. Thank you all for your efforts in 2015 and enjoy a well deserved and happy Christmas break before it all kicks off again in January.

Training sessions that I have attended this preseason have got me quite excited not only with the players efforts but also the coaching standards.
The coaches are monitoring not only the physical exercises but the technical aspects as well ,far more than previous seasons .
The shoulder rehab guys are doing specialized exercises , the players coming back from calf issues are being given strengthening exercises with mobile weights . Players are doing more ball work and simulated ball movement earlier this year than any other preseason .
The players that have impressed me with their work ethic on the oval are Son Son , Sutcliffe,Morabito ,Griffin , Grey , Clancee ,Sheridan , Irish and Balic .
honourable mentions Silvangi , Suban , D Pearce , Neale , Barlow , Blakley , Hill , Taberner ,Hannath and Smith .
Of the coaches Hale has been doing a power of work and Webb has been unrelenting in setting standards with innovation and new levels in physical conditioning . Strength not bulk seams to be the mantra .
RTB and the coaches appear to have placed ball skills higher on the priority list along with player mobility and increased speed both of the ball and the players .Shorter more accurate kicks with players encouraged to make quick decisions by hand and foot so that the ball is kept moving .
I can't wait to see the midfield set ups in the new year during the match sims .
Wishing everyone Merry Christmas , a safe and happy New Year from me and mine .:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::):rainbow:

This is getting absurd. All I said was that in the three sessions Ive seen Griffin has stood out to me. The reason is that I saw him running and keeping up with midfielders (which I have never seen him do before) and then dominating strength exercises on one occassion and then IMO he looked more mobile acrooss the ground in some skills exercises in another. From what I have seen he is the most improved compared to last preseason by a country mile. It is simply an observation that is all.

Im not sure why there is such a need to justify that someones observation is wrong. I agree that Walters, Mora and Neale are training at an outstanding level and have said so. I have actually only seen Hughes train once as he was in the gym the two other times I watched.
sherrif Thanks for the reply and I wasn't trying to get you to justify what is your opinion just seeking clarification on what is the criteria you have judged Griff to be the standout. Anyway have a great Xmas and see you in the New Year when you are next at Freo Oval watching our beloved Dockers.

Seems that DP has been defended. He's never as good as he seems or as bad as he seems. He'll be best 22 at the start of the year. I doubt anyone will pass him throughout the year. But if they do, we'll be in great shape because he's a top 10 player from the Minor Premiers.

Everyone should love DP.

Most do based on the movies I've seen.

You're right ,Sherrif its your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it and if Griff does improve it will be another great bonus . I've got a blinkered opinion on Griff .I need to look at his positives . Have a big Xmas and see you next year.:thumbsu:
Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

How has Darcy Tucker been training? I was going to select him as my buddy but i had a first round pick so I chose Weller instead.

Is there a chance he'll debut?
Which players in the recent best 22 do you see Tucker competing against for a spot? I think it was difficult in 2015 for 1st year players to get a chance, but much more difficult for the new batch.

Hi all,

I had a cursory glance at a couple of threads and couldnt see anything about it, so thought that I would ask here:

Saw on 7 news the other night that Fyfe has apparently hurt his back? Anyone have any news on that?

I think whatever has happened is just a byproduct of the surgery he had in October. He is still able to kick and run, just not yet to his full abilities.

Can anyone confirm where Lachie Weller finished in the time trial? I've been told he was bottom 5 and the 5kgs he has put on isn't muscle.
Umm weird , I though he finished top , anywhere go and spread the news that hannath , griffin , and Sandi is our top 3 runner.

Fat, you call that fat, you should see the 7kg food belly I am carrying around after Chrissy. The abundance of left overs that simply must be eaten quickly is not helping in my recovery!!!
