So what pick are we talking here? I'd be furious if we surrender our 2nd round pick for him, even if he wasn't a druggie.

His best is handy but lacks consistency. I just don't see him re-inventing himself as a 40 goal/year forward and as a defender we already have Jamison & Rowe + White, Giles, Jaksch and Fields (and possibly Weitering). Let's not let one season leaking goals overstate our need for a mature age defender. Scoring power and midfield class are bigger problems.

Carlisle is a better defender than all of those. By a long way, too (jamo at his peak was not too shabby).

The only one with anywhere near Carlisle's ability and cieling is weitering. And even then that's projecting plenty of hope on a 17yo unproven in AFL.

I'm not overly excited about picking up Carlisle, but let's not pretend he wouldn't be an upgrade on our current offering.

If Kreuzer does go I would suggest that our pick 3 and Geelong's 1st round (11) be coupled to retrieve Patton and GWS's first round (9).

Picks 3 & 11 <-> Patton & 9

Then we would ontrade 9 for Carlisle (don't want to, but the dons* won't accept much less and PSD leverage is gone).

Patton and Carlisle for Kreuzer and Henderson.

Weitering, Jamison, Tuohy
Docherty, Carlisle, Simpson

Thomas, Casboult, Boekhorst
Everitt, Patton, Walker

If Kruezer left I think it would be a total dog of an act ( no pun intended ). Club has done so much for him through the injuries and got very little back in return. FFS, players really don't appear to have any soul these days - all looking for a quick fix

PSD leverage is the same today as last week .
Carlisle wants to stay in Melbourne .
Brisbane of all clubs wouldn't touch him knowing this considering their player retention problems .

You know absolutely nothing about him, the club or his relationship to it.

Astro, the feel on the board is that if that if Krooz were to leave under FA it would be the club pushing him in that direction.

He doesn't seem to be the type to abandon his team or chase big $$$ (he reportedly knocked back a huge GWS offer years ago). There is talk that SOS is looking at getting high picks any way he can, including encouraging Krooz to leave under FA. Like what the Dees did with Frawley.

My guess is we will let him shop himself around. If he gets a juicy offer from another team, we will choose not to match and bank a pick ~#4. If his contract offer is less than band 1 compo, we will choose to match it.

Neither do I.

When he's out on the field, I know he's busting his arse 100%, he doesn't leave anything back, and his influence and impact on games for our club is enormous.

By crikey, i'd sell the farm to keep him at Carlton, and quite frankly I reckon we won't have to.

(Most I's ever used in a Numbers post)

if we are likely to draft Weitering, why would we bring in Carlisle?
If we are lacking payments to make the cap minimum, sign Cripps on a massive front ended deal so the in 5 years time when he should be on 800k he is on 200k, and we are manufacturing our own "COLA" fund.

See our current #17 holding down CHB. Club wanted to only offer 1yr that has proved to be correct. Severely stagnated.

I'm hoping by his reaction after that goal yesterday he might want to stay.
He doesnt want to leave... he had that interview back a couple of weeks after he returned from injury stating that he wasnt interested in exercising his FA rights and just wanted to stay with the club forever.

Sounds like we have washed the Collingwood right out of the boy now :D

Maybe we can get rid of Kruezer and then trade pick 12 for someone like Hickey or pick 30 for someone like Hampson.

On second thoughts lets just keep the one decent ruck man we have.
Tom Hickey just re-signed for two years last week. He won't be on the table.

I think the point is, if we cash in krooz for a pick, we will just have to use another (albeit worse) pick to replenish our ruck stocks..

And that new ruckman is very likely to be worse than the one we would have just sold off.
