I think the point is, if we cash in krooz for a pick, we will just have to use another (albeit worse) pick to replenish our ruck stocks..

And that new ruckman is very likely to be worse than the one we would have just sold off.

Quite frankly, that is a nonsense.

We've thrown out enough money on bell-ends like 206 and that other goose Hampson to finally have the best ruck/follower going.

This is one player that will not be bettered in trades, and MUST be a keeper.

We can sucker punch Geelong (who are dreaming Hendo is the solution), and Yarran to whoever for another first rounder.

Sick and tired of our club being the escalator for players to waltz off for high money.

Barker's statement and Kreuzer's history of turning down dollars for me says SOS is holding off to see what the best return for Kreuzer could be with Free Agency Compo.

Personally I think what Kreuze brings cannot be measured and would sign him for 2 years and hope he gets a good run.

Pick 3 is very enticing though.

The players back in the day used to use the rest of the league as the escalator to big money at Carlton.

I'm not overly excited about picking up Carlisle, but let's not pretend he wouldn't be an upgrade on our current offering.
I didn't say he wasn't but given the state of our list in general, I wouldn't rate Carlisle as a priority.

If we retain pick 20, I'd be using it on the best available midfielder and not an Essendon walkout. PSD is fanciful if other clubs chase him - e.g. last year Paddy Ryder forced Port's first pick.

And what do we get with pick 3? Do we get someone who comes in and gives as much as Kreuzer does? Do we get someone who can influence a match like Kreuzer with his gut running and second, third and forth efforts?

If we get pick 3 who do we use as a ruckman? Wood... barely AFL quality... tries hard but is no Matthew Kreuzer in his efforts. 206... please... a witches hat would be more effective after a ruck contest than him! And they are both 28 so if they were any good, they would be playing first team football constantly.

Pick 3 is enticing yes... but it in no way compensates us properly for losing Kreuzer.

If Kruezer left I think it would be a total dog of an act ( no pun intended ). Club has done so much for him through the injuries and got very little back in return. FFS, players really don't appear to have any soul these days - all looking for a quick fix
Goes both ways mate. Clubs burn players as well. Besides, Carlton making no secret of wanting 5 picks in top 20, If they let him go and they get a band 1 compo, thats gonna give them pick 3 straight up, along with pick 2, their pick for Hendo. So well on their way to getting their wish.

No doubt.

This fella, and I've been with him since Day One, is just too good to lose.
When he is right on form, there is none better in the league to watch going about his business. He might not win every ruck contest over the course of a game, but by christ if he can, he will win or assist in winning the clearance for the team.

He has that touch of John Nichols about him really...

Just for fun, thought I'd point out cripps is 5cm than big Nick was back in his heyday.

Mind you, big nick's thighs weighed 15kg more than Crippa's... :p

Have followed this bloke very, very carefully.........he's a step ahead of the game.

Late in the second quarter, on the old Southern Stand wing, he gets the ball in hand, in play, in a pack, and does a back foot drop kick 3 yards straight to a Carlton player.

Literally, blink and you miss it moment.

Was watching that thinking did that really just happen. Kreuzer just makes things happen.

Kreuzer is staying. :)
If he doesnt, I want your address so I can come around and beat you up for spreading false hope...

As I said... I think that if the club comes along and drops a back ended contract on the table in front of him that equates to 500k/year, he will almost break his arm signing on the dotted.

You make it sound as if there is a choice for the club to make re: pick 3 or kreuzer

We would all sign kreuzer up for 2 years - no doubt about that. But what if kreuzer is offered 4 years at much higher money?

With each passing week, kreuzer will bump his value up as he continues to build match fitness - Injury free, 4 X 600k would be a bargain for kreuzer and I'd expect a club or two to take that risk in order to push for a flag.

At 26 and with his injury history, kreuzer would be stupid to reject a guaranteed 4 year deal if one came up

Imo, we are NOT in a position to take on board such a risky contract - therefore the decision is not ours to make as to whether kreuzer stays or goes (and my expectation is that he will go)

Also... Cripps has said that he is willing to sign another extension to take him to 2019 now. He is currently contracted to 2017, so extend it for another 2 years and let Cripps and Kreuzer work together and get in a young rookie ruckman to train up over the next 4 years.

Um Carlisle is 90% most likely to be a better player than whoever we draft at pick 20.

Draft picks around 20 even are still speculative, Carlisle has proven ability at AFL level and still young.

People say Kreuz won't be part of our next flag....he is only 26.
Could easily play 4 more good years, maybe even up to 6.

We've seen how quick Beverage has turned the Dogs around...it is possible.
