Preface: I want Kreuz to stay and hope we re-sign him regardless of compo.

If we got a Band 1 Compo style offer from Kreuz and SOS decided to let him go, Francis would be a handy player OR it's not a bad carrot to dangle in front of GWS to pry the likes of Treloar, McCarthy or Patton. Assuming Treloar either stays or goes to Tigers/Pies - I'd have a good crack at the two KPPs I mentioned.

Pick 3 and 20 for Patton/McCarthy and 8 would be pretty handy.

Come out with Weitering (Pick 2), Pick 8, Pick 10 (Hendo) and Pick 14-17 (Yaz). Hitting the draft with four inside the top 20 plus gaining another GWS gun would be bliss - would almost come close to losing Kreuz... but I still strongly believe we need to re-sign the big #8 ASAP.

Still, Weitering/Jaksch as our Key Backs and Patton/McCarthy with Cas as our forwards looks a whole lot better than what we've got now.

Yep. If we ended up with pick 3 or other low picks, I'd rather trade for a proven youngster than a draftee.

Why draft a kid who could be anything when you might pick one up who has proven he is something....

If Hendo is not 100% Geelong bound I would try and convince him that he should head to GWS.

Assuming pick 3 compensation for Kreuzer I would package up pick 3, pick 20 and Hendo for Treloar and McCarthy. Looks to be giving up a fair bit but may work for both sides. Hendo is the experienced KPD that GWS are after.

Bloke on the ground checking for overcrowding.
Thats the Blaine Boekhorst bandwagon... thats me on the ground wondering where everyone came from because the thing was virtually empty until 2 weeks ago...

Hypothetically, if you knew for certain that Francis would turn out to be as good/talented as Stringer/Bontempli, you'd let Kreuzer go surely, or if you knew the Kreuzer compo pick would nab us Dangerfield.

Just playing devil's advocate, a strong footy club has to make tough, ruthless calls for the greater good, even if it upsets the supporter base.

We've reached a point almost now where loyalty in football is dead (as Lachie Henderson has shown) anyway

That's the thing though - you never know how good these kids are gonna be.

Surely we've got enough guys with currency who actually want out, we don't need to be getting rid of the one's who want to stay as well.

One only has to look at the footage of Kreuze and Cripps' celebration after "that goal" to see how well-loved Kreuzer is even by guys who haven't played with him before this year. He works his arse off, has plenty of talent, and wants to be a Blue for life. Francis might be great - but he might also decide he wants to play for Hawthorn in 3 years time.

that's all well and good but with his injury history I would take pick 3 and run.

The reason its a tough call is that as a club, we are working on fixing our culture and getting rid of anyone who doesn't want to be there and is 100% committed.
When trying to instil this culture, it kind of doesn't work when you then push a guy like Kreuzer out the door, who is passionate as they come.

Ultimately a good winning culture is more important than a draft pick, and if Matty Kreuzer plays a big part in instilling that culture in our new team going forward then his value is immeasurable and much higher than any draft pick can give.

we have threads that discuss this very concept, with the vast majority advocating for the win rather than getting an early draft pick.

Thats alright, Denham might be right and deal maybe done . Will be interesting to see what type of trade it is

Don't believe the crap you hear on GuesSEN and how can a 'deal be done'. Season isn't over YET!

For all we know, Bolton may have a word to Yazz and he stays!

As for Denham.
