Can tell you for a fact that SOS is speaking to quite a few GWS players. Not the big names, but the second tier. There are quite a few that have been biding them their time waiting to come home.Could be interesting later in the draft.

Does anyone else get put off Carlisle by the fact he has put himself up for trade but not nominated Carlton? Others who have put themselves up for trade have nominated clubs, which I think indicates a desire to play at that particular club. Seems like Carlisle is happy to play wherever the money is and has no real concern about being part of a particular club. I might be reading too much into it, but surely we go for players who want to bleed for the jumper? Another Daisy Thomas would be devastating at this point.
They don't always nominate straight away.

Or in the PSD if we haven't promised Pick No. 1 by then to someone else.

He also has the advantage of being out of contract and can be picked up in the psd. So he doesn't really need to rush anything. Either way, he is out of *, and I think that is his main want at the moment. Where he goes is just a bonus. So I wouldn't be too concerned by the lack of demands on his part.

Apparently when he heard of the deal's details he just shook his head in disgust !!!

Why would he? He had a GWS hat on. It also took a while to get across the line so I think these reactions being attributed to him are overstated. Other rumours suggest he visibly reacted to our selection of Boekhorst as well. I never saw anything but a poker face from SOS all night and I was there watching him closely. It just made no sense that he was reacting to another team's recruiting in a negative sense.

What could it possibly include - no need for any heating, less clothing needed. It's paradise up there.

It'd mean Brissie had a smaller salary cap than Melbourne teams, right, because it's cheaper to live up there. Where do we sign off on that?

That's what COST OF LIVING allowance is about.

Suppose he thought trading a #2 pick from just two years earlier for pick 19 was a good deal. He came in full of bluff and bluster but a closer look at his track record shows he doesn't really have any reason to look down on other list managers.

A slight correction on my part in that SOS's negative reaction was apparently more on his disapproval of CFC taking Boekhurst with Pick 19 ... sorry to mislead.

His manager was on SEN this morning saying if he cared about the money he'd probably stay at Essendon, because they offered him a very generous contract. He wants to get away from the club so he can enjoy his footy again. Manager said he hasn't discussed numbers with any club yet.....

Nope. But every single FA pick we got, fixture result, prime time TV coverage, priority pick request and AFL money etc etc would be compromised for the next decade.

And anyone involved would be mud internally with the AFL.

Scratch the AFLs back and play the good corporate citizen, and it gets paid back. Bite the hand that feeds you on the other hand...

Unless Schache turned out to be Carey MK2 it wouldn't be worth it. Having the AFL on side for our rebuild is much more preferable than having them offside.

Anyways. This is all highly hypothetical. I'm really just surprised that anyone still thought that the AFL didn't do this. They tried to force the Roos to go to QLD remember. The essendon thing, melbourne thing, COLA, 'not tanking' and 'not doping' stuff, tipping off Essendon (and then trying to protect them from ASADA penalties via a negotiated settlement), barring Sydney from trading (unilaterally), changing the Judd/ Visy thing etc etc

They are a third party in any and everything that goes on. And not just a silent partner either.

Sorry, please list what the AFL has done that has been seen as favourable for CFC in the last 10 years?

Nope, no unhealthy reliance on the AFL. The club should go for it and hold the AFL accountable to their own rules. CFC has been made accountable at every turn. It's not dirty, it's the AFL's own rules. Just 12 months earlier that same scenario was presented with Melbourne / Hawthorn. This reaks once again a bias against CFC. Had the Bulldogs bottomed out this year would the AFL have the same stance? Fk no. If it means using 'precedent' in court to make sure pick #2 ends up at CFC then so be it.

If that is the case, and its between St. K. and Carlton, objectively I will say he will go with the Saints as they are at least 2 or maybe even 3 years ahead of us in their rebuild and he has a chance of playing finals with them, rather nominate Carlton and have several years on cellar dwelling ahead of us before we have a competitive finals playing list.

Disagree Blue Heart, actually think St.Kilda will progress ok for the next year or 2 but once Riewoldt, Montagna and couple others finish up I think they will stagnate a bit.

If we can get the draft period this year and next nailed I believe we can be ahead of them within 2 years and would not be surprised if we play finals before the Saints do next.
