If we swap Hendo and #20 for #9, #28, and Walker (which is too much for Geelong to pay incidentally), I doubt we'd be giving #9 for Carlisle. Not even sure we'd do #9 for #24 and Carlisle because we'd be very attracted to what #9 might get us.

I see what you are saying too much from geelong. But 9 for carlisle is fair. If a 1st plus a swap of 2nd for hendo is fair. Carlisle is younger and has more potential then hendo does.

Fine in theory. Just don't see us getting Carlisle for #28 or walking him to the PSD.

What about Henderson and next year's second rounder for #9 and next year's second rounder, and then we use #20 for Carlisle. Not great but a slim chance.

If Carlisle nominates Carlton i don't see * as having a choice .
They won't be getting pick 1 or 9 , so 28 as our second rounder will be the best we can offer .
His manager will explain to him that he is being offered a generous contract and he does still have to face WADA , so though 28 is unders , accept it and move on .

I think that is totally wrong. Some of the clubs put all sorts of things on those. But I see why you think what you do.

No, it's right.

Here's a Geelong Falcons story back in 2010 when he was 17.

TAC Cup Record R3 - Josh Walker

Family members forever ask when he’s going to stop growing; opposition clubs wonder how they’re going to combat him.

Questions continually abound Joshua Walker who has certainly made his presence felt in more ways than one for Geelong Falcons in the infancy of season 2010.

Walker doesn’t have an answer to the first query. He’s added four centimetres from last season to take him to a strapping 194 cm and all the indications are he’s still got a couple of centimetres to add.

The 17-year-old notes that he’s outgrown his dad and all other male relatives. Complimenting that imposing stature is an athleticism that saw him own a 14.4 Beep Test, a mark he’s confident he can advance.

As much as I don't want walker could a deal be something like hendo and 20 for 9 and walker

It could but I'd rather get #28 back than Walker. If we want him, use our third rounder.

Maybe we can poach Stevie Motlop:p,has he committed to a new deal with the Cats?

Okay then ... fine ... have it your way.

Henderson and #20 for #9 and Motlop.

You drive a hard bargain.

You can bet SOS and Bolton are working plenty of OT at the moment.
The lack of news regarding delistings suggests this is still very much a work in progress.
We need more class and depth in the midfield, we need KPP (x 3?), ideally a ruck and a
small forward are on the wish list as well.

We ain't getting them all!!!

Weitering and Silvagni are likely locks in the draft. Rice possible, even probable, unless the cost
is prohibitive for essentially another medium defender.

Carlisle could add some big man class to the list and seems keen enough to come, but there are
risks which could preclude us from committing a high pick in exchange. I can't help but think
Plowman is a plan B/either/or for Carlisle, not in addition to.

We cannot completely overlook a decent mid in the draft, although, if we snag an extra first or
second rounder, do we take a Curnow, Weideman or McKay in the hope of adding some KPF class?

(Phillips and Bugg are decent players and can help balance the list.) GWS might not be hard to deal with.
They have up to half a dozen academy boys to draft. Their best 22-30 are taking shape. Salary cap
pressures mean they will be happy to have multiple kids at the "bottom" of the list, rather than the
stocking up of high picks to start the franchise. They will want to show the academy kids that there
is a reason to choose AFL over other sports, that there is a pathway for more than just 1 or 2 boys.

Who do we keep? It has been done to death on here. Strategically Watson is a bigger question
mark than most think. Walker as part of a compromised trade for Hendo is not as bad as many think,
however which 22yo offers more upside Watson or Walker? How is Cam Giles' foot? Is Foster going
to make a player? Will Jaksch develop physically and find some urgency? Will Jones...........??????

Bolts and SOS are hopefully the solution to our problems, but their task has been complicated
enormously by our recruiters, Malthouse, and some very generous pay deals offer cap and precedent
problems when negotiating future deals.

Many on this board have knives sharpened ready to cut down SOS at the earliest opportunity. I
expect some left field Moneyball decisions in the short term to provide a launching pad. The masses
are impatient and are unlikely to cut you any slack after the MM shambles cost us a handful of best
22 players after eroding their effectiveness with an impossible game plan.

Good luck guys.....you are going to need it.

Foot note: Byrne and Sheehan when fit will be prominent best 22 players.

I'm not going to bother saying Walker is a downgrade on Watson.. because frankly... who isn't?

Still... last year Jones was one of my least favourite players in the competition... and now there's rumours we're after both Josh Green and Josh Walker... FML.

J Green
J Walker
J Carlisle
J Lamb
J Aish

But that's just to make ...

J Weitering

... feel at home.

If we get Walker I'm done.

Number 387, your walkout announcement is served.

To your credit, you're the first that used it up on Josh Walker. The others have been over the possibility of Kreuzer leaving.

Trade for a list clogger??? Jarrad Grant can be had as an unrestricted free agent.

That's very interesting. He sort of fits in a slot all of his own ... or maybe another Everitt. If Kreuzer stays, we could pick him up ... or Suckling. Hmmm.
