Got a sneaky suspicion that SOS will try and turn Pick 1 into a 2-3 for 1 if there are no compo picks awarded.

Eg - pick 1 to Bris for Redden, Aish and Pick 2.

Why wouldn't we turn the threat to Bris and play the game...

You 100% want Schache then this is what's it's going to cost you....

That's a win for us id say...

I guess it all comes down to their fear of us taking who they want.

So...who do they want? Weitering or Schache?

Unrealistic trade is unreaistic

If we go by the General consensus and say they are after Schache, why wouldn't we ask them the question??

If you want the number 1 pick you have to pay overs...

We'd be very silly not to at least try it out.

With pick 1 comes plenty of power!

All this speculation about how much we value trade targets and what we think the club would be willing trade for them makes for a nice change (from a negotiation perspective).

I don't think we'll see SOS doing a Shane Rogers by appearing everyday on CFCtv declaring our hand to everybody.

I heard the final straw for Rodgers was when he requested a full page ad in the heraldsun detailing his top 100 draft candidates in order.

I lost total faith in him when he managed to hire that sky writing plane a day before the draft ...

On face value alone, Plowman doesn't come across as a priority for us right now.

I understand that we can turn back-man A into a forward and back-man B into a mid...........but in the wash, that rarely happens.
Flexibility is great in principle but the fact of the matter is that some players just play best in the roles they've been used to since their junior years.

At this stage Weitering looks a lock for our pick #1 and from all reports will be good to go from day 1 next year.
Jamison will be around for at least another 2 years and Jaksch was recruited for a back role...........at least under the previous regime.
Rowe will likely make way and that's fair enough whilst Simpson may also be into his last year.

We then have Docherty, Tuohy, Buckley, Sheehan, Byrne....................and then DVR, Holman & Dick.............and hopefully Giles.
Just seems to me that if we back these guys in, we should be covered and if we're over covered, then some players will rot in the Northern Blues.

We can't put the same argument forward for our mids and our forwards..............That's where we need the players.

I see what you are saying too much from geelong. But 9 for carlisle is fair. If a 1st plus a swap of 2nd for hendo is fair. Carlisle is younger and has more potential then hendo does.
I would agree with this if Carlisle did not have WADA concerns.

The reality is, only maybe 3 possibly 4 of these guys are going to make it. It's all well & good to say 'let's back these guys in & we'll be covered' but between Doc, Buckley & Touhy who played most of the year, we finished last. The other guys are rookies or late draft picks & totally unproven.

It's about building depth & young talent. Having depth ensures more pressure on spots which can only benefit the team. Plowman is a Top 3 pick from only three years ago (he's clearly got elite talent). I'd be super keen for the club to facilitate a trade.

Docherty & Tuohy were two of our better players for the year :)

Byrne is very capable and most of the other guys in the first part of my sentence have genuine qualities......I'm not concerned about our back-line as much as I am about other areas of the ground........................and what if we pick-up Carlisle?

Moral to the story: Maybe we can improve a position by 10% with Plowman but the mids and the forward can be improved by 30%+

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Surely SOS won't trade Hendo for Geelong's second rounder and J. Walker, it would be an average outcome for us. Would prefer Hendo and our second rounder for Geelongs first rounder. However, I suppose we cannot have our cake and eat it to if we get Carlisle in the PSD!

Two different trades. We absolutely don't have to look at net gain between the two. Get Geelong to hand over 2016 picks if necessary.

Backline sets up a team and stops the leakage, then providing confidence to the team.

Backline of in 2016:
Touhy Rowe Weitering
Docherty Carlisle Yarran

This is a solid as any on the competition. Add Jaksch, Jamo, Sheehan, Simmo and Thomas should play HB.

Mids of Cripps, Gibbs, Murphy, Graham, Byrne, Walsh, Curnow, Kreuzer, Bell is our issue - need to more a graders in there. Mathieson and C.Curnow be nice.

This leaves biggest hole although this can change with fast ball movement fwds of
Everitt, Casboult, Walker, Menzel, Smith
This is an issue.
