I still think there is a what if over Watson as he never got an extended (by extended I mean 3-4 games in a row!) run at it. Really think we mismanaged him badly, for all his limitations.

And delisting Giles? what the hell? are we going to get him back as a rookie? I thought he was considered to have a lot of potential if he could get his body right?
At some point you have to stand on your own two feet and he's had 5 years in the system. Watto couldn't cut it as a KPD defender at AFL level and didn't have the weaponry as a KPF. He is a good VFL player and not what we need on the list. I wish him well but the club has made the correct call here.

Ryder went for 19.
Carlise in all honesty should go for about the same. The big * next to their names prevents much higher.

As for Melksham, seriously anything more than a throw away 3rd round pick is overs by anyone. Why would anyone trade for him really?

Watson had ample opportunity to prove himself. Had an elite kick but was slow and had the turning circle of a boeing 747. He should be happy he survived this long, if we're being honest.

Giles on the other hand-WTF

I am fumin' tampin' ragin' over Giles being delisted.

So what did Blain Johnston do wrong? Giles never really got going but I thought that Blain looked OK? Watson is disapointing - thought he showed a bit in the last few games but it is always hard when guys get delisted. Really wish we had a great side and only needed to move on 2 or 3 a year.

BJ didn't do much wrong, he just didn't do enough right

Johnson seemed to struggle to take the leap from VFL to AFL. Could play consistently well at lower level. Giles never got a chance to get going because we mismanaged his injuries.

Why did we use a 1st round selection on him if he has these shortcomings? Speed and turning circle dont improve a whole lot.

Crippa put in a bloody good word for him in his B&F speech, too. Really hope he gets another shot via the rookie list. Otherwise, Crippa is going to have to find a new house-mate for him and Casey.

Carlton has made four changes to its list ahead of the upcoming trade period, delisting Cameron Giles and Matthew Watson, along with rookies Blaine Johnson and Fraser Russell.

It takes the total number of list changes to at least eight, with Andrew Carrazzo, David Ellard and Chris Judd retiring, and Lachie Henderson requesting a trade.

Watson & Johnson were no-brainers and I said that Russell was a goner too but no-one believed me.

Giles is an odd decision following his injury issues, most people were expecting him to be given one last full season to prove himself especially as they gave Watson a near eternity.

Maybe this is the way we are going to be from now on, way more ruthless and strategic which is a good thing IMO.

All I need to hear now is that Warnock has been punted and I've nearly put up a perfect score. Somehow think Warnock may not be booted until after the trade week as there may be a trade available seeing as so many clubs are after a ruckman this year.

Not that no-one (me) didn't believe you, but just questioned the situation around Cat B.s

I understand that Internationals have a minimum of a 2 year tenure but wasn't sure that was the case with locals.

Exactly, we have to take the navy blue blinkers off and look at our list realistically.

No-one wants to see players shown the door but when you finish last, changes have to be made, its as simple as that.

Watson & Johnson = good VFL players

Move them on and try the next batch. Keep rotating the list, do not hang onto players who are going to be no better than serviceable at VFL level with the occasional patch of OK form at AFL level.

How come you & I understand that philosophy yet the 'powers that be' over the past decade can't ??
