We have turned over 22 players in the past 2 years, I imagine we will do a similar number this year

Out of contract and likely to be delisted unless something seriously changes
Warnock
Arnfield
Ellard
Wason
Blaine Johnson
Giles
Holman

Retired
Judd
Carrazzo
Simpson ???

That is 10 players without factoring in any potential trades. We will have one of the youngest lists in the comp once Judd, Carraz, Simpson & Warnock are not on our lists and will have turned over more than 2/3 of our list in the past 3 years.

I'm not so much bored with them, just believe they are two players with limitations on their development ceiling and therefore may be better to use as options to secure decent draft picks and/or another up & coming player instead.

Casboult can mark anything that comes within cooee of him but I just can't see him improving his kicking to a consistent level whilst Bell is bullish in the clinches but is prone to making the wrong decision with the ball once he has got it in his hands.

I guess I keep coming back to comparing us with the Hawks right now and wonder whether either of those two would ever be drafted or traded in by them and based on the what I see as limitations (others may disagree with me about them) I doubt they would.

But do you not think the other clubs also see these limitations?? I do disagree on Bell, i reckon he is improving with each game he plays and will eventually end up a very very good footballer.

Without Casboult the next best option for relief ruck is Wood. His kicking isn't any better than Casboult's, and he's not as good at competing for the ball in the air or on the ground. Most 2nd rucks aren't great kicks really.

Bell plays on instincts but he's no Robinson kicking it directly to the opposition. IMO he has a place in the forward line.

Hawthorn seem to be able to figure out how to work around their players limitations. Gibson isn't tall enough to be a KPD, etc.

If Malthouse stays at gets another contract at the end of the year, then it is hard for me to see Ellard leaving. One of Mick's favourites

buckley has to be gone surely, with Holman an the irish boys coming on it's time to him on, same with nicky G sadly

Although Buckley is out of form at the moment. Does not mean he won't come good again.

Seems crazy to get rid of him. He has a future at Carlton.

Why would you put Holman ahead of Buckley?

good question really, easy answer is age.. it's to easy to say he will come good. I'd love to see bucks come good he played a ripper game last game last year in the 2nds (hurt his hammy) but time catches up, we can't carry bucks for a 5th year at this stage imo...

injury history isn't great aswell I just think you can make a case he should be moved on ahead of say a Holman who is younger an more unproven?

Buckley was a rising star nominee last year. He's working on his defensive game but I have confidence that he'll make it back this year.

Yeah would be disappointed if we delisted Buckley, in saying that I would also be disappointed if Buckley didnt play 12+ games this year in the seniors.. If he doesn't then we cant keep carrying players who are 21+ who are not good enough to be in our best 22.

Bucks is being taught to improve his defensive game

Young players often get sent back to VFL to work on deficiencies

Madness to assume Bucks is in the firing line for being dropped off the list

What's our view of BoekHurst

Lots of fans no doubt annoyed he was a semi mature age first round pick whose not being picked in the seniors

However if you look at him physically he isn't a semi mature recruit as he's skinny as a runt and it may just be he's lacking AFL level match fitness

So I'm prepared to wait on this one

But geez club would want to hope they've got this pick right

His fitness is not up to it yet..that much is pretty clear. I'd rather the club wait till they think he is ready rather then throw him to the wolfs. Just because he was our first pick and mature aged.

Supporters need to remember he is coming off a WAFL fitness base so he wouldn't be much more advanced than those coming out of the TAC Cup. We won't see the best of him this season, but give him another pre-season & we will get a better look at how important a pacy winger can be in the modern game.
