Any chance that Carazzo might get another year to assist as an inside mid?
We have lost a bit of grunt on the inside lately and we don't want Patrick to have to get every clearance

Are people really serious that they wouldn't get rid of Kruezer for pick 3? Take the emotion out of it and you would say bye bye Kruezer. Kruezer has max 80-100 games left if he doesn't get injured. Highly likely he will and highly likely none of them will be finals games. Pick 3 will be most probably be Francis and your going to get 200-300 games out of him and hopefully 5 finals campaigns if we're lucky. Start looking long term and stop thinking we are going to turn it around in one year. Go to the draft and see if we can build a premiership side, we are behind 17 teams and don't expect to get in front of any in the next 2-3 years.
I always look it like this. If Kruezer played for another team would you offer pick 3? Just like if we delisted a player on our list would any other team pick them up? If the answer is no then get rid of them because they are just clogging the list, you will be amazed how many players we have like this.
We have a perfect opportunity to turn some of our older players into young players and we must take this in the next 1-3 years while we are at the bottom and would get good compensation, because I guarantee you 2-3 years down the track we will regret it.

Hide Carl, dramoth is coming and MEB is right behind him. They are both armed and dangerous.

Yup... lets clean out all the depth players and replace them with kids who may or may not be ready for 2-3 years. And if we have another injury wrecked year like we did this year, we would be exposing those kids to the rigors of AFL football before they are physically ready.

I agree that we need to get rid of some of the dead wood players from the club, but we need cover depth and after getting rid of 22 players over the last 2 seasons... we don't have that many left to clear out.

Walker, Jamison, Thomas could all fetch a second/third round pick or a swap for players not getting a go at another club. Curtly Hampton, Thomas Bugg and Plowman at GWS fit the bill. Regenerate our list and would stay competitive. Not sure if they are the dead wood type we are referring to but for me these guys are not needed at the blues as they won't be there for our next finals push.

Hi Guys think you are in an amazing Position with Cripps and a core off class players to bounce back very very fast..

Wow Carlton are in a great position to re launch the club using compensation picks think of this...

They finish bottom then

loose in a good way Kruzer to Dogs compensation pick 2
loose in a good way Henderson to Cats compensation pick 3

Trade Menzel to Port Adelaide pick 8

Swap pick 20 for Carlise Essendon

So hows this Draft for the Blues

Pick 1.Weitering
Pick 2.Schache
Pick 3.Paish
pick 8.Collins or Curnow
Pick 20.Carlise
Pick 39.Rice(FS)
Pick 57.Silvani (FS)

That would be the best draft any Club has had outside GWS and Gold Coast in History

Are you high? Number one, Carlton aren't bottom so at the moment we have pick 2, number two Henderson is NOT a free agent so if he leaves we must trade for him, most likely a pick around 10, number 3 why would Carlton trade with Essendon when they can take Carlisle in the pre-season draft? Number 4, no club will offer a top 10 pick for Menzel.

Must be odd following a team you don't support.

If Kreuzer was a free agent at another club who were umming and ahhing about re-signing, I would be throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Would I trade pick 3 for him... wouldnt need to as he is a free agent.

Jaksch isn't Bootsma who continually failed to work to dietary instructions.

You can see the class in Jaksch even when he looks a though he's not really trying. I'm not worried about him.He should be fine.

Agree, my point was more that, unlike say cripps, he will improve with the group, rather than set the pace.

Here's a team of players I think will be there in 5 years time: Nobody over 26 selected.

FB: Tuohy, Weitering*, Buckley
HB: Sheehan, Giles, Byrne
C: Docherty, Gibbs, Boekhorst
HF: Smith, Jaksch, Viojo-Rainbow
FF: Everitt, Casboult, Menzel
R: Kreuzer, Cripps, Graham

IC: Curnow, Holman, Whiley
EMG: Yarran, Bell, Walsh, Foster - We'll wait and see with these four where their careers take them

I managed to make in my mind a best 21 (with Weitering added). I think that's a great platform to build on. Just need another quality mid, I have Docherty there but he looks comfortable as a backman.

Still needs a dollop of A grade sparkle before we start winning games on a regular basis. Maybe a 3rd of that side might make it to 5 years, based on the normal attrition rate.

Are the Dogs living in false hope that we could snare Kruezer or will it simply not happen? I'm sure our offer would be as good as Frawley so you would get pick 3. Seems a win/win. But he is such an important figure at your club.

Table an offer but you'll probably find Kreuzer isn't motivated by money like Tom Boyd.

win/win you say? We've already lost Jacobs and Hampson to trades and don't need to lose another.

McCraeCraeBF... pretty sure.

Silly me. Fancy going to the footy for 40 years and overlooking the bigger picture.

Back in your day the bigger picture was obscured by a champion 6'2" ruck with legs the size of the biggest gum tree trunks in the country. You're excused.

THE PAST
Robert Warnock - contract expires, delist or trade
Andrew Carrazzo - retiring at end of season
Chris Judd - retired
David Ellard - being delisted at end of season
Ed Curnow - contract expires, delist or trade
Matthew Watson - contract expires, delist or trade
Blaine Johnson - contract expires, delist
Fraser Russell - don't waste my time !!
Mathew Dick - delist

I just can't see this happening at all.

Brendan Bolton was one of a few that helped him achieve his second chance at AFL football. Why on Earth would he encourage SOS to kick him out?

Also, you would not want to get rid of too many players, because you are not guaranteed to get the same number of players coming in. And this can be an issue, especially when injuries come into the picture. It rushes the development process.

But we no doubt should have traded him on a pig in a poke who might have turned out ok. Silly us.

Might have saved the club some bail money.

Kruezer is a RFA .
If a club offer him a big $$$ long term contract , we in our position would be crazy to match it taking into account his age and injury history and the chance of bringing in premium young talent via compensation so essential to the list rebuild going forward .

I like him too, but can't see how someone can make a 200 game career out of being average at all positions.

Where would I be without you to explain things for me? Exactly which draftee are you guaranteeing to become at least as good as MK btw?

Probably waffling on about coffee and the like .
There are no guarantee's with draftees just as you cannot guarantee Kruezer will not break down AGAIN .
Just good list management .
Different philosophies i guess and each to his own ...

Thy, I would rather keep MK. BUT given the state of the list, I can understand posters thinking that a shiny new pick is more appealing. Heck, I suspect SOS thinks so too.

Of course, pick 3 could end up the next Richard Tambling, but putting aside emotion, I wouldn't give up pick 3 for Krooz, therefore I think it's overs in pure value terms.

There are of course considerations such as loyalty, club harmony and culture (and needing a replacement ruckman). But if you asked the other 17 teams what they would want - pick 3 or Krooz, I'd be surprised if anyone picked Krooz. And therefore arguably we shouldn't either.

I know you don't need this explained to you, but I think you need to offer a little respect to other posters' opinions. It's not like anyone is saying 'get rid of the galoof, he's the next Cain Ackland'. Most posters that would take pick 3 would do so with a heavy heart. I can understand why you would refuse the pick, but you should also give some credit to others' opinions.

Walk a mile in my shoes......and you'll have pretty sore feet (I have size 7 shoes)...
