The knock on Golby was always his kicking so these comments are encouraging.
My worry is the difference between training and match day and how much the pressure of the game affects him. How was his kicking at training last year? If he has improved across the board I am genuinely pleased although we will be getting worryingly low on scapegoats. It pretty much leaves Merrett and for the earlybirders MRobbo.

This makes me happy. Martin is getting huge and I think that is Clarke next to him who isn't small at all. Makes Clarke look like a peasant.

I think that would be one of the staffies, wearing a hat and all. Clarke would have been doing running and looks bigger than that guy (I hope)

That's a trainer, buddy. The players are wearing singlets.

His thighs aren't as big as Clarke's either.
Looks like Clarke in the background though - from the look of them thighs.

Looking forward to Stefarn having hopefully a good run with injuries.

For those that went to training today, how is James Aish going ?- not much mentioned about him and he wasn't mentioned as being in one of the running groups, but I saw him in the photo's.

Did anyone catch the lads at training this morning? Were there any new faces from the draft present?

I popped in for a bit. Only new face I noticed was Clayton. As an aside I overhead a trainer chatting with him referring to "the other two Joshes".

Oh, and Trent West was doing laps. :thumbsu:

Rd 5 return is best case scenario, apparently.

i attended my first training session for the upcoming season today. a few observations to start with this might have been discussed already but i a have been occupied with other things. firstly the team have been divided into 4 seperate groups coloured i believe that these teams will stay in there groups for the pre season training. the groups do combine throughout the sessions. but there is a competitiveness amongst the groups. the overall atmosphere at the ground was different than other years.. there is clearly a much better vibe amongst players and coachs so far. the players looked extremely sharp in all there drills . surprising considering they have such a long time to go before pre season games. there was a lot more training with the ball.great to see rich ,robinson and the older beams out there amongst the group. staker, christenson, clayton and the new hanley were in the recovery squad. nothing sinister there, trent west was doing some running. rockliff and older hanley were mainly doing laps. maguire sporting a head of hair and a little extra weight was a little hard to pick up at first. very impressed already with new boy dawson looks a ready made footballer harris andrews is a tall lad needs a litle more work in the gym. stef martin seems to have spent a bit of time in the gym building up his upperbody much bigger shoulders..there seemed to be a bigger emphasis on goal; kicking and the team spent a bit of time on mass in spirited barracking and gamesmenship as each player lined up to kick a goal. harwood looked impressive as was mcstay cutler nick robertson and the beams brothers.. notable was clay beams kicking for goal straight and long distances.. good to see mcguane and jackson paine out there, paine looks a lot lighter this year. leunberger was out there training as wasall the rest of the list aish. mayes green etc..

Oooh yeah...that's right...Rich hasn't lost his left peg. He was absolutely drilling goals from 50 today. The ball barely got a few metres above the turf. An absolute joy to behold.

Great news.Begs the question, would he be an automatic selection if that left peg was rendered average.

Good luck to them!
From Nicks comments, the training is very competitive with a very obvious competition for spots.
A lot of physical jousting the odd push and shove as well as high spirited verbal conflicts!
I asked him how he was with that and he said no probs Dad it's good that we are all going to have to bust our arse to get a spot!
Great for team I reckon.
