I think it's great that Lester, Golby, Harwood, Bewick and C Beams all rocked up for day one even though they weren't required too. I think they realise that there are about 2-3 midfield (including hf and hb) spots up for grabs in the best 22 which is their's to be won and would of made Leppa and the coaching staff very pleased.
In stark-contrast, would of loved to have heard that Robinson was there, yes he's a 100 game player with several finals appearances under his belt, but we have given him a second chance and I don't believe he's a lock for best 22. It would of been a great showing to Leppa and Jed that he wants to be here and is here to work hard and would have earn't himself a lot of respect. He's in Brisbane right now looking for houses and judging by his Instgram is staying at a hotel, so could of easily given up a couple of hours of his 'busy' day and attended.

The P.E. VCE exam was today, ns if Clayton is doing that subject, but hopefully it's his last one if he is, unless he's doing a random religion or language subject or business management, so should be up soon.

Turn it up about Jed! Thinking his spot is up for grabs in the side would definitely have not been his motive to turn up to day one, don't believe the thought would have even crossed his mind. Two young children, he probably just went somewhere local for a holiday and as such was able to attend. Great display of leadership, showing the younger boys that if you want to become a great player, it's all about the extras. Great captaining.

Yea Robbo probably already discussed it with the coaching staff. You gotta be understanding with people moving interstate especially with a family.
Finding a rental in Brissy is a pain in the arse. A lot of competition for places and not a lot of affordable family places. Sure MRobbo can afford a bit more, more than likely, but most of the rentals in the inner east (where I imagine they are living) are expensive or "student friendly".

I think that some of the players being praised here such as Zorko and Bewick are actually obligated to turn up since I believe that they have spent less than 4 years on a senior AFL list. Nevertheless there were still some blocks like Jed and Harwood who didnt have to be there but rocked up anyway and everyone seems to have busted a gut on the day which gives a ver, very, good first impression for us fans :)

Just thought we'd have a thread for all news, articles, things happening this pre-season.

As some of you know, all the 1st to 4th year players have started their pre-season today.

But what was interesting was, Adcock was there too. By no means is he supposed to be there, I assume the club didn't ask him to be there, but what absolute professionalism from the bloke to be there for Day 1, even though it's for the other players, and show them how it's done.

This is why he's captain, and will be until he retires I feel.

They haven't been listing them on the website yet. I haven't been paying attention to twitter either, but that's usually a good place to find out.

Dayne Beams already purchased a nice big home in Cannon Hill. I'm sure he could squeeze Robbo in.

then again, I imagine he has a bit more coin to spend !

Doesn't the Brown dog live at Cannon Hill, dont tell him he might start stalking the poor fellow.

I haven't said it yet but getting Robbo on board just makes me smile, definitely a character, was my favorite Carlton player.
Better late than never but welcome to Brissie hope it works for you and the wife and kids.

It struck me what a big advantage it is for the kids to be picked up out of the academy/father son, basically get a months headstart on the rest of the newbies and for the academy kids still get to live at home.

I nearly (literally) walked into Jeff Kennett this morning coming out of the Executive Building. Felt like asking if he was going to come and be chairman of the lions, just so I could say "f*** off we dont want you".

How can I put this, his sense of self importance permeated the air.

Oi!!...if that had of been me, I would've got on the ground and kissed his feet!:D
