I'm pretty sure that Jed is right up there for r50s and even i50s in regards to team stats. If we were low on drive from 5he back half, it certainly wasn't because of him

Not sure the concern was his NUMBER of i50s, more his deliverey style of the long bomb-and-hope.

I think the quality of Adcock's disposal is worth questioning. He's not a bad user of the footy, particularly when he looks for shorter options. But I have an ongoing frustration with him kicking slow, loopy 50 metre passes to an outnumbered contest. I'm sure it is about deep entries but so often it turns into a turnover and the opposition rebounds effectively.

To be fair though, I thought it was more prevalent under Voss in 2013 and I think there was an element of him being very Brown-centric.

Ranked = 17th in the AFL R50's, ahead of the likes of:

NDS
Walker
M. Johnson
Suckling
Enright
Birchall

This is where statistics are dangerous. Assuming he's "ahead" based on numbers, the ball would have been in our back half a lot more than some of these teams, and Jed's 'competition' for bringing the ball out of defence include Clarke, Gardiner and presumably a whole host of players who only played down there for half the year etc. So he's going to be high in both our team and the competition based on pure numbers. What those stats don't tell you is how effective those R50's are, how often did they result in a scoring opportunity etc (acknowledging of course that a lot of that is also the responsibility of the players upfield who get it after Jed and what they do with it, of course).

I'd like nothing more than to see Jed as a real weapon coming out of defence. I want to see him set up plays, and hear opposition fans go "oh shit, Adcock's got it" like they do with a Suckling (or sometimes actually, when Rich gets it). I want the opposition to fear him having the ball because they know he'll choose the best option and it's likely we'll score. I think Jed's offered something in terms of leadership when we've obviously struggled for some so sentimentally I'd like to see him spend the next few years playing finals with the boys rather than being pushed out. BUT, for me, he has to improve notably in some areas for that to happen. If it's not Jed, it should be someone else doing that creative role. I think it's more likely to come from a developing young player than Jed at this point in his career, but more than happy for it to be Jed. Nothing against the bloke.

We can't say we want to improve but then get precious about fav players from the last few years being pushed out. That's what good sides do. Sewell missed the GF despite all the great work he'd done to get the Hawks there, and Langford got a game. And people accept that because it improves the side, even if it's hard and seems ruthless at the time.

Totally agree...but was just making the point that he's up there with his involvement in the transfer of the footy out of defence.

Do I see him as a weapon off half back; not really, but he's a solid contributor to our young back six and has earned his spot.

On a seperate note - I really miss Josh Drummond :(

We're not exactly flush with experienced players here. Yeah, we've got plenty of 24/25 year olds. But you'd be mad to suggest that a team doesn't need players who have been in the league for 10+ years. We've lost Patfull, and I assume we'll only play one of Merrett and Maguire. We need a couple of experienced defenders. I understand what you're saying, but the team just isn't in a position to be pushing out experienced players without good reason. I'd like to think that we'll make progress this season, but you can never assume anything with such a young team. The list has laso changed significantly over the last couple of years- we need some stability.

Totally agreed. It seems I'm having trouble getting my message across here. It's not about pushing out Jed, it's about being excited by the prospect that the young guys could go past him - who isn't excited by that?! If they don't, we have that stability, 10+ years etc until they do. But, for instance, who thought Lewy Taylor would play 22 games last year? The trick is not to put limits on the kids - "it is better to aim high and miss than aim low and hit". If by "missing" Jed plays 22 games and the kids develop nicely then obviously it's still headed in the right direction, but I want those kids to be putting the heat on him.

I am not sure where to write this but is there any news or reports on Craig Lambert heading back to the club anytime soon? I am pretty sure I read somewhere that he was contemplating a move back from GWS but I wasn't sure whether it had any substance.
He just seems to be popping up with our blokes a lot lately.

Even tho our internal match simulation got cancelled, why can't we just play the match tomoro. Just move the match forward a few days?
Dont think they would be wanting to play a full match sim 5 days out from the first nab cup game

They will most likely play a couple of quarters tomorrow, (Leppa did say "an extended session" for Monday), but you can't expect (nor would there be any benefit ) to play a fullish game, 5 days before their first proper hitout.

Do you know where the "extended session" will be held?

Close took a really good contested mark on Merrett, showed real strength to protect the drop. Dawson and Andrews both caught my eye with some really nice hands.
