Was wondering that myselfQuestion are there different jumper numbers being used for the AFLX.
Ahh that's who "Patty" is. I couldn't think who it was.Fair bit of footage there of Patrick Wilson ... cool.
Doesn't mean much. Playing well in the JLT games is more important than AFLX.Bit peeved that after all the hype coming out of the club, Poholke didn't get a jumper in AFLX.
I wouldn't be. It's probably fair to say that the 18 players named are the 18 bottom ranked players on our list (including rookies), excluding injuries (of course).Bit peeved that after all the hype coming out of the club, Poholke didn't get a jumper in AFLX.
Looking at that AFLX squad, I think not being named is probably a good thing. It is possibly the worst squad that we could name!Bit peeved that after all the hype coming out of the club, Poholke didn't get a jumper in AFLX.
The most interesting facet is the naming of Kelly, Otten, Doedee, Keath & Cheney, all of whom are effectively fighting for two positions in the senior team (Kelly's & Lever's).Looking at that AFLX squad, I think not being named is probably a good thing. Do you think that the AFLX is actually being used as an audition or do you think that them all being named is more because all 5 are in the bottom half of our list? The most interesting facet is the naming of Kelly, Otten, Doedee, Keath & Cheney, all of whom are effectively fighting for two positions in the senior team (Kelly's & Lever's).
It also confirms that Hampton is nowhere near AFL selection in 2018.
I wouldn't read too much into that. It's an 18 man squad. We only have 45 players on the list, with Walker & Smith both unavailable, plus Fogarty & McPherson who "have had good pre-seasons, but at this point it’s probably not best for their preparation into the main season to play AFLX", bringing the pool down to 41.I’d be more inclined to say its more a slap in the face towards Jordan Gullicci as he is being grouped with the lower ranked players.
Poholke would be a walk up start form the JLT series.
How in the hell did you derive these conclusions from a selected ALFX side ? ......so what conclusion do you draw from Port selecting Robbie Gray ?I wouldn't read too much into that. It's an 18 man squad. We only have 45 players on the list, with Walker & Smith both unavailable, plus Fogarty & McPherson who "have had good pre-seasons, but at this point it’s probably not best for their preparation into the main season to play AFLX", bringing the pool down to 41.
What this means is that Gallucci is not in the top 23 (available) players. I can live with that.
On the other hand, it does mean that Poholke & Milera are now both rated ahead of Gallucci & Hampton.
It's being used as a developmental & Fitness programDo you think that the AFLX is actually being used as an audition or do you think that them all being named is more because all 5 are in the bottom half of our list?
I wouldn't go as far as saying that being named in the AFLX side confirms anything about Hampton. You could ask the same question of Hampton's selection as he and Gallucci are potentially fighting it our for CC's position in the team.
Why ? ......was it all that important that he be named ? ......i couldn't care lessBit peeved that after all the hype coming out of the club, Poholke didn't get a jumper in AFLX.
There's a bit of both. The naming of so many defenders indicates that there's a competition for those positions. For the rest, it pretty much says that they're closer to the bottom of the pile than the top.Do you think that the AFLX is actually being used as an audition or do you think that them all being named is more because all 5 are in the bottom half of our list?

Because the team selected is clearly the bottom "available" 18 players on our list. Poholke & Milera not named, so they're obviously not in that bottom tier. How in the hell did you derive these conclusions from a selected ALFX side ? ......so what conclusion do you draw from Port selecting Robbie Gray ?
Just rubbish Vader .....that's your interpretationBecause the team selected is clearly the bottom "available" 18 players on our list. Poholke & Milera not named, so they're obviously not in that bottom tier.
I couldn't give a fig about Port's selection policies. I couldn't care less what the wharfie scum are doing.
I agree that it doesn't look good for them, but in saying that one of the players selected is our 23rd best player. That player might be Hampton or it not be. Either way, I don't think that the AFLX squad confirms that anyone is "nowhere near AFL selection in 2018".There's a bit of both. The naming of so many defenders indicates that there's a competition for those positions. For the rest, it pretty much says that they're closer to the bottom of the pile than the top.
We've only named 3 players with 50+ AFL games - Otten (98), Cheney (77), and Hampton (60). We already know that Cheney is on a dead man walking contract. I'm betting that at least 2 of those 3 players will be gone at the end of the year. If you've played 50+ AFL games, and you've been named in an AFLX team, you know that your career is in deep, deep, trouble.
Surely you can see that this squad is close to the weakest squad (for a proper game) that we could name.Just rubbish Vader .....that's your interpretation
You couldn't give a fig about Ports selection policies, because it doesn't compute with how you believe clubs select their AFLX sides ......that is the bottom tier of the list
Sensibly the club will use to increase fitness of new recruits & as Kessler said assist the players in development of the Crows structure ......it has nothing to do with equating a ranking of Crows players

It's a long season for the older / mature players .....they never play all the JLT series anywaySurely you can see that this squad is close to the weakest squad (for a proper game) that we could name.
