I want more updates on how Naish is doing. He could be a steal if we can match him with 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I rate him as a boderline top 20 talent, but there is still a long way to go in the season.

I think he will really develop well body wise once drafted.

Thought I would start a draft thread.

Geelong, please miss the 8 so are we a chance to get O'brien - please and thank you.

With Naish most likely ours don't see the point of O'Brien unless he is best available at our pick. We clearly need at least one tall although the KPF most likely won't be there apart from maybe Balta??

Bishop would be interested if you had athletic testing results for Naish? I know you said O'Brien did a 2.98 20m last year.

O'brien to me is a Merrett clone, I rate him in the top 5 (unpopular I know) but if he is there at our pick, which he probably won't be, we have to take him.

I don't disagree that Merrett/Hunter/Gaff type accumulator is another type we could do with. But from what i've heard (haven't seen anything this year to be fair) that sounds like what Naish could top out as.

Merrett doesn't really belong in those two category, in my view he is probably the best young player in the league.

Naish is that type of player, But he will take a couple of years to get a game to be honest unless he puts on weight this year. Is only 67 Kgs

If Naish has a really good year and is projected at 15-20, then i reckon its almost a certainty we will trade out our latest first rounder and use our 2 3rd rounders to get him with Points. So far though i haven't seen him listed in the Bests in any Knights games so not sure whats going on there or how he is playing

They are all big accumulators who get about 1/4-1/3 of their possessions contested. Merrett is a better clearance player but the other two use it better. Don't get wrong tho he has surpassed both of them and i rate him highly, he is probably everything Shedwards and BEllis should be.

But there are a few players from his draft and after I'd take ahead of him, still not bad company.
Josh Kelly
Bont
Cripps
Wright
Lever
Heeney
Mills
Oliver

God I hope so, its about time we had some luck in the draft. Although I have high hopes for Butler. Menadue and Short, losing my hope for CEllis and Lennon though.

Cheers.

Looks like an above average athlete, except for agility which is bit surprising given the descriptions i've read.

I think he is a March birthday? Be nicer if he were later in the year but beggars can't be choosers

What do you think of him?

My top 5 in this order for the draft is probably:

1. Jarrod Brander
2. Darcy Fogarty
3. Sam Hayes
4. Lachy O'Brien
5. Cameron Rayner

I don't really rate Ballenden which a lot of people seem too, doesn't suit the modern game and I wouldn't be overly happy if we chose him if he slides.

Calcium Man I would take Merrett over Wright, Kelly, Oliver, Lever and Mills.

But moving on.

What do you think of him?

2nd-3rd rounder, smart around goal & looks the goods playing school footy for Ivanhoe. Contested ball still a worry and his kicking can get found out when he plays across half back. Best in the attacking half of the ground - does some good things but plenty of areas of improvement.

Given how bloody good some of the top 10 picks from last year are looking I'm inclined to say **** trading let's use our picks ,,,,,fingers and toes crossed we don't need a r1 to get naishy

We won't as he isn't that good at the current stage of his career.

I can't see us taking a KPP as there is none that really stand out to me in the region our picks are going to be in.

Five names that we can likely rule out as they'll be taken above us:

Brander, Cerra, Davies-Uniacke, D.Fogarty, Stephenson
Who do you have as likely going around our picks (if they are kept)? Who would you pick if you were our drafter?

I also understand that it's still fairly early and views will change as the year rolls by.

Balta may slide and be around our picks, I like him but he might go before us.

Cassidy Parish may be one we look at, Hardwicks type of player.

That confident of Stephenson?

Yep. Marks better than some of the other talls that could go in the top 20.

I'd take Oscar Clavarino as a KPD if he was on the board at around our pick. Nathan Kreuger from SA another athletic tall that can play anywhere is another I like.

If he doesn't clean up his kick - he'll be undrafted or will go late like Dylan Clarke did last season.
