Preview 2017 First Elimination Final Ports vs West Coast Eagles, AKA The Perth Stadium Penguins

West coast have played some great footy the last two weeks. Surprised to see they aren't favourites

Bookies know we should have won both games against WC, and that we are a better side now than when we played them. It doesn't mean we are going to win, but that our chances are quite good.

i wouldnt be surprised if we lose this, both sides are pretty vanilla so it could go either way.
Lol, we aren't surprised losing to anyone after the last three years. Angry and/or disappointed yes, surprised no.

Often these days I lead with 'On paper Port should ....'. Well on paper Port should win this by 4-5 goals. A good win, but no flogging. Will just be hoping it's not a paper tiger turning up Saturday week.

Really cant go into this game with high confidence we will prevail. As supporters we have been bitterly disappointed throughout the year on missed opportunities. The crows belting also demonstrates how bad our worse can be. Quite simply our leaders and experienced players must stand up and we need execute furious intent at winning stoppages. This is the time for everything to click. Timing your form now is how your win premierships...so it is good we have 3 wins coming into game.

Im far more confident v the Eagles than I am had it been Essendon or Melbourne.

Regardless of our loss at home this year to them, all the stats in that game were so heavily in our favour that it was a bit of an outlier. Then, we went and beat them in Perth. That said, anything can happen in finals, but i think we will win and win fairly comfortably.

I don't remember it being that close!

Didn't we beat them by a hundred during the season?
I remember very clearly how intense it was. At one point I got up from my seat too quickly to yell abuse at the umpires and I almost fainted. My mates thought I was about to have a heart attack!

Must have been a bit of money put on the eagles overnight, in from $4.60 to $2.65.

Carn pear

Yep, there's a rumor going around over here that Charlie Dixon is battling an ankle injury and that Naitanui may come in to combat the influence of Patty Ryder.

The media over here seem to think that the Eagles have this and the premiership in bag.

Charlie definitely twinged something near the end of our last game, but with a 2 week break it's pretty clear he'll be 100%, in fact the bye will be really good for a few of our guns, Wingard, Wines, SPP, Pittard all need the break.

These facts definitely give me some hope, however not having Jonas and the knowledge that WC's defensive setup has caused us problems before has me nervous.

I definitely agree though, I'd certainly rather play WC than Melb or Ess, as I feel that we can control the midfield easier against the Eagles.

When they beat us they killed us through centre bounce clearance goals, and end to end transition goals into an open forward line. Whilst choking the life out of our forward line. I certainly think that it is possible for them to get the choke going again so how we go early in the game will tell us a lot about whether we've learnt from that and can break down their defence. That'll be probably the biggest focus, but at the same time we can't afford to allow those easy goals again. If we tighten up as a defensive unit we should be fine, but the thought of Kennedy Vs Clurey or Howard is extremely scary.

This is not the news Power fans want before the finals series...

Speaking on Triple M Adelaide this morning, Mark Ricciuto dropped the mail he had received that a Port Adelaide player has gone in for season ending hip surgery.

“My mail is…Jack Hombsch flew interstate to either have an operation or to inquire about an operation on his hip," Roo said on Triple M.

“He may not playing for the rest of the year.”

Probably more of a concern for the Magpies as I can't see him getting back into the Power lineup at the moment. He's looked average at SANFL level let alone AFL level.
