Preview 2017 First Elimination Final Ports vs West Coast Eagles, AKA The Perth Stadium Penguins

The last team to beat West Coast in an Elimination Final went on to win the flag ;)
Yeah but unlike said last team, I can't imagine we'd suddenly become the darlings of the umpires......

Flying over for this.
The hype for Eagles here in WA is nauseating.
Hoping for a repeat demolition of the EF 2014
On a positive note the other team that came here for an EF on the back of sneaking into the finals (and a 9 win streak) didn't leave very happy.

Robbie did alright as a small forward against the Eagles in our second meeting at Subi. I think the earlier game where he barely touched it might have been during that time when Robbie "wasn't injured" ;)
Yeah Hope so, I'd have at least one of Wingard or Gray in the middle constantly

Hearing WCE are seriously considering playing Nic Nat against us!

Which would for sure impact Ryder's production in the ruck

It will be interesting to see the effect the bye has on us. Theoretically as the team whose last bye was the longest time ago, it should benefit us the most by far. However having only just won 3 in a row for the first time all year, we would hope our building momentum isnt stunted.
Does anyone know when and how many days off the players had.
Hopefully they return focused ready for wce who are planning another ambush.

Where are you hearing this?

From Perth Now two days ago;

"Eagles coach Adam Simpson ruled out selecting Naitanui against Port Adelaide in next weekend’s elimination final at the Adelaide Oval."

He hasn't even played in the WAFL so he'd hardly be match fit.

Edit: From the WEagles own website;

Link
"West Coast coach Adam Simpson has already poured cold water on any chance of the star ruckman suiting up in Saturday week's elimination final against Port Adelaide. But if the Eagles upset the Power, Naitanui might give West Coast's match committee something to think about during the finals series."

This is the sort of side we struggle playing because of there big forward set up with Darling/ Kennedy.
The week we really need Jonas he does something so ****ing stupid.
We need a fast start playing this moob as if they get on top early and silence the crowd we will be done like a dogs dinner.

So important that we get on top in the midfield and not allow Priddis and Mitchell to get 70 touches between them - best to starve Kennedy and co. of opportunities.

I read somewhere there are 12500 tickets still available, I dont get it, just went thru all the categories and available seats, there surely isnt more than 1500 seats available in the entire stadium ? You'd think the hill standing room would have sold the fastest too - being cheapest. I must be doing something wrong.
Thru Telstra we can get eastern stand tickets (albeit high up) for $34ea - there are about 50 up there still, but we have no baby sitter now

Looking at the extended weather forecast it looks like the rain will stay away. After our performances in the wet this year I am convinced we are a terrible wet weather team so think a dry day will help us.

I really think the game is going to come down to who takes their chances more. I am sure we will have more of it but if we kick poorly they are every chance to pinch the win.

Blokes like Robbie and Westy need to step up and start nailing these chances from 35 / 40 out on slight angles. You will not win finals if you do the hard work only to then get the yips and poke the ball through for a behind like we have seen so often this year. Please kick bloody straight.

Who cares.

Adelaide get the rain, we get the dry, I'll take that. You've summarised our 2017 well. And I so wanted to say you know nothing Jon Snow :p

I am so glad that some in here have gotten their scapegoat all ready in the wings if we lose - come on down Tom Jonas.

How do i explain this again simply so that those folk who have trouble processing information understand? We DO NOT win or lose a game because of one player.

We should be more concerned about the selections (and then placement of those players on the field), the gameplan and structures and the mindset of our players as to whether we win or lose. Yes that's right all 22 of them.

Yes we will miss TJ's experience and class down in our backlines but considering so many on here wanted him gone last year, you could just remind yourself of that and then pretend you traded him. There he wouldn't have been out there anyway.

FFS people pull your heads in and be looking at how we can and should beat the Eagles, who are very beatable. Stop blaming TJ and stop giving Ken his excuse early should the worst happen. He might want to mix it up from the players just need to work harder.

There are no excuses. We should be able to beat West Coast and if we can't then lots of questions need to be asked.
