I know GWS are on the verge of a premiership and all, but it still would be embarrassing if they were to get more members than us. Especially when we don't have a powerhouse club like the Swans competing against us in the same market.

You reckon Collingwood would have at least 55k giving a total of 810k. It might be 65k and a total of 820k. The final audited figure will be about 880k-900k. So the adjusted current total is probably around 790k-800k.

Remember that a big chunk of their members will be swans and victorian club supporters trying to secure grand final tickets.

Yep, I took out a couple of GWS memberships to hopefully secure GF tickets and so have a few others I know. Very well priced I must say

Wow, GC are dying.

As expected. Same as every other sports team to play there. Titans started OK and then fell away. GWS will end up at least twice as big as GC.

If GC had the season GWS had last year, the membership numbers could be somewhat reversed.

GC as you would expect, has members mainly from the GC, GWS has Canberra and also Riverina to draw from in memberships as Wagga is about 2/30 minutes drive from Canberra.

But i would agree that GWS has much more potential, solely because it has a bigger population to draw from.

I am pretty sure in the long term SE QLD will support 2 AFL teams and will do OK.

Collingwood: 70k+?
Adelaide: 70k+?
Hawthorn: 70,283
Richmond: 66,125
West Coast: 61,881
Essendon: 61,135
Port: 54,402
Sydney: 53,010
Fremantle: 50k+?
Geelong: 50,295
Footscray: 40-45k?
Carlton: 42,556
St Kilda: 37,692
Melbourne: 37,025
North: 36,625
Brisbane: 19,669
GWS: 17,184
GC: Taken down, but my guess is 9-12k

Interesting how there seems to be tiers of support, a massive gulf between North and Brisbane, a close bunch of North, Footscray, St Kilda, Melbourne and Carlton and an even spread from 50k-70k+.

The lack of winning would be a pretty significant factor I'd have thought. They need to string some wins together and soon, their situation is definitely more than a little concerning.
