Love the optimism, but have you watched our last two games? We looked ragged last in the 4th quarter last week and Unfortunately its generally the unconditioned kids that run out of petrol tickets in the last. Sam Gibson our all day runner is just shy of 31 years. Endurance athletes peak between 25 and 30 years old and VO2 Max doesn't decline till 30 in the general population and typically later in athletes.
So you're saying that they lack game experience at the elite level. That shouldn't fill us with dread, if anything hope. It means that with experience and conditioning, these guys have the potential in the next twelve months to see the Roos re-emerge as a potent force. After all, we do have the second youngest player list now in the AFL, and if they could almost steal the game against Geelong at this stage (with their endurance still developing and lack of experience) then that bodes well for the future in my mind. That said, we shouldn't expect miracles for this year, finishing around the middle of the ladder at the team's present level of youth and inexperience in 2017 will mean that we are in for an exciting period 2018-2021.

Not everybody may see it my way, but we do all look at the world differently. Building the team into a force will be a marathon (not a sprint) and there are no short cuts. But as long as we see steady improvement throughout the season then we should all be heartened.

At this point I'd just like us to reach 40k or thereabouts.

If 40k is our new "base", what we get even when things don't appear too rosy, then thats fantastic. Allows us a lot of stability financially.
Did you know that apparently we've only won 3 out of our last 18 matches? I say apparently because I haven't checked myself but someone told me that today. That's BAD! Glad we're nearly at 40K under the circumstances.

Interesting to see how clubs like Hawthorn fare if they keep going the way they currently are. Probably not evident until 2018.
Their membership is hovering still up around the 70000+ so I reckon that they could take a 4-5000 hit. We're a little less resilient at 38000 (odd). :(

40k good historically, will be in the region of a 12% drop in members and that must concern any serious organisation. l suspect it also hides a further drop in downgrading of memberships and we can expect related decline in attendance and merchandise. As far as l'm aware we don't really get the full picture until accounts released in early 2018.
l believe there will need to be some on-field improvement to arrest further decline. At this moment only the most optimistic could say Scott is leading us in the right direction.

In 2015, we hit 40k in rnd 11 against the Swans. Last year we hit it in round 3. We will see where we stack up this year.
As long as we do. It's a symbolic marker, if nothing else.

To retain 40,000 members when we've dropped off so badly in the second half of last year, and what we've achieved so far this year would be a great result I reckon.

Little trick for those with Samsung phones and have the AFL live pass. Install a program called Side Sync on your PC/Mac and watch the game on your computer in full screen. Thank me later :thumbsu::thumbsu:

This is what it looks like on my Mac with my Samsung phone.

Seems like this no longer works. App wont allow external display now.

The new app blows.... After 3 months i still hate it.
It's horrible.

Further to that, you used to be able to watch match replays on the afl website on your PC/Laptop if you had a subscription but that has been stopped too. You have to purchase a full subscription to watch it on the afl website.

Yeah unfortunately last year they didn't have the rights to airplay to a larger screen, but an error with the app allowed it anyway. In fact it said last year in the T&Cs that you couldn't.

Unfortunately this error created an expectation within the customer base that are now disappointed this year when that term has been actively enforced.

As it's in-app, you could seek a refund via Apple with the 'report a problem' however it's entirely up to Apple on if they provide you with a refund.

Also, being in-app the subscription is managed by Apple/iTunes so the website currently has no way to link your app purchase with your Telstra account so you can't access the additional content on the site, however all that is still available via the app itself.

This looks like being a bigger drop than Essendons 2016 where they had much bigger issues. It must surely right or wrong be due to the Boomer cull.

Also can anyone explain why record membership numbers were being touted before Christmas etc but now it looks like being at least 5k down?

I reckon losing the first 4 games as opposed to winning the first 4 would be a much larger factor than Boomer.
