I like that we've taken a longer view in an attempt to obtain and maintain success. Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to do what Richmond and Western did the last two years and pinch a flag, but even better would be to get a Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney type of system in place where success is sustained over a number of years, to be a power team rather than a one-hit wonder.

Both Hawthorn and Geelong put together groups of players around the same age / draft year and let them come through the system together. Neither had immediate success, but after playing 4 or 5 seasons together, they became powerhouses. I feel we are trying to achieve a similar outcome.

They really provide great content at our club.

When I look at other club's Youtube page.....they barely have much content at all. We get videos constantly. And this podcast, which I am yet to listen to, is another thing to add.

Great work.

Thought id re-post Mixed Results excellent summary of the podcast into the new thread.

Key points of the podcast:

- We have a three year list management strategy in place i.e tank for two years and then sign Josh Kelly.
- Wanted elite talent and aren't going to sign players just for the sake of getting someone in.
- DOB is a strong consideration when looking at talent.
- Club is very keen on shuffling picks around. They talked heavily about moving up, but hard to tell if they were referring to #4 or #22. From their wording you can almost guarantee a trade gets done involving pick shuffling.
- Regarding the delistings, we wanted to bring in four or five players in through the draft and Mullett and Gibson were just unlucky casualties of that mindset. They then praised the leadership that Waite and Thompson bring in regard to why they were kept.
- Don't expect anybody to be traded out.
- Language used regarding Mountford made him seem very much like a required player. Was brought up before Williams and Hibberd as far as young players who will step up in the abscence of Gibson/Mullett
- Very positive langauge used regarding Ahern. You get the feeling that Joyce is pretty excited about him.

I also really like the message they're sending the List Mangler (props to the person who coined this term, I can't find the original post now) and D!ckhead Damo, "we're not really busy now but we'd rather spend our time making our own credible content than spend it with you two bottom-feeders".

Purple Pain?

I took the opportunity to visit Arden St for the first time in over 3 decades of dedicated support to experience the famed coffee cart, buy some nice merch at a good price and look for Phillyroo's hideouts.

No sign of Darcy Lang but hopefully he didn't have a coffee - the hottest coffee I have ever had, burnt my tongue and there's no sachets of sugar and stirrers so had to pester the poor barista who had to sugar me up old school with a teaspoon and sugar pot. 6/10 - coffee sub-par but premiership cup ambience boosted the score.

TOM Rockliff is officially heading to Port Adelaide after the Brisbane Lions decided not to match an offer on the restricted free agent.

The Lions will receive a draft pick at the end of the first round, meaning they now hold picks 1, 12, 18 and 19.

Or Ben McKay and Brown could be out key forwards for the next 8-10 years.

I personally think McKay is a natural defender, just like durdin. He was a defender when he was drafted and that's more than likely where he will end up.
If that's the case then it leaves us with larkey and daw to accompany brown. I'm not sold on either in particular daw who I think is a complete dogs breakfast of a footballer.
In saying that the way football is going with both the doggies and tigers winning, brown and wood is probably enough as long wood comes on.
I think by next year we should be looking at a high end pick for when brown is done and who could potentially play alongside him for a couple of years whilst developing.

If you were Geelong would you be going harder for Gablett or Stringer?

No, I wouldn't. ;)o_O

GR, please quote every post from the last thread and place them in this thread, thank you.

Nothing yet. I hope he's ok.

Problem with a plan like that is that you have one single injury to a key player and you are completely boned. Neither would have won a Grand Final without their big forward (JR & TB respectively). You're risking a whole year every year on a single player not getting injured IMHO.

coffee shouldnt be any hotter than 65 degrees if you choose a flat white or latte as the milk becomes bitter. :(
