I was really looking forward to seeing some of you training watchers this coming week. Then yesterday I tore the meniscus in my knee. I am expecting surgery this week and being unable to drive for 4 - 6 weeks. So I am going to need lots of training reports.
That sucks. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Get well soon, Femme.

Fred Ziffel salim malik sherrif gaskin and any other regulars at training.

Just wondering what you think of the surface at Cockburn?

With no training yesterday I went for a walk around the oval with my old man and he made the comment that the grass is couch (same as the grass on my front lawn) and we both thought the surface was quite firm. It seemed very different to the surface at Subi or what I remember of Freo so just wondering what you guys think of it?

Last January not long after the boys started training at Cockburn I asked Shane Kersten that Very question.
His reply was; this surface feels tighter and nice and firm under foot. It is firmer than Freo.

This is a very young surface and I am confident it will become even better as time goes on.
It looks ordinary at the moment because of a treatment they applied before pre- season; killed off patches of grass. It is much better now than it was in November.

So did you at least see Nat ?

P.s get well soon!

My knee had been a problem in a minor way for some weeks. I went to get in my car and my knee just erupted in pain. I suspect I had a minor tear and then turned that in to a major tear.

I'm 4 weeks post knee surgery too ...rehab sucks but at least getting it done in summer is better than winter.

Do we have some brave watchers huddled under the balcony this morning?

How is Alex P moving? Involved in all drills?

Cerra?

Big Darcy and Little Darcy?

The new stadium will be a firm couch as well.

"The “Eclipse” turf is 90 per cent natural, but involves a plastic backing interwoven with blades of synthetic grass.

Hessian matting helps hold the combination together, and the product purports to handle 10 times the load of a natural playing surface.

Mr Pitsikas said player footing would remain stable even if natural grass breaks away.

“You can’t pull it apart,” he said. “One of the main drivers is reducing injury from an uneven surface. You won’t get that.”

The turf’s natural grass element is “winter green couch”, reportedly an industry standard for stadiums.

Some rye is expected to be sown once the turf is in place, mostly as an aesthetic addition.

The Eclipse design is from Melbourne firm HG Sports Turf, and Perth Stadium’s surface will be the same as those at the MCG , ANZ stadium, AAMI Park, and the Gabba."

A mate from works sees a few of the players in the walking pools at the arc. He is a WCE fan and like to give a good rib tickle. He did however say that big Darcy is almost unrecognisable. He was getting excited tell me about it. He also said the player that surprises him the most when they do running sessions is D Pearce (for all the wrong reasons). He is however blown away by Blakely. He seems to think he does a pretty good job keeping up with Billy
