I popped my head in today for my first look at the new facility. The place is really impressive it's got just about everything, the only thing it lacks is a soul. It's a shame they moved away from Freo it was pretty cool having the oval, the markets and a couple of great eateries and pubs all within 100m of each other and then of course there were the fig trees. Oh well.
Anyway, I didn't stay long I only got to see a couple of drills, but there was one incident that piqued my interest. They were doing a tackling drill whereby one player was trying to avoid the tackler and the tackler was trying not to get side stepped. There were 11 coaches and assistants watching the drill but it was RTB who provided the advice to the tacklers at the end of the drill instructing them to keep their feet close together and keep their steps small in order to stay nimble. Some of the tacklers had intuitively assumed a wide stance right at the moment of tackling, allowing their man to side step them. Now the question is, can you have too many coaches? Can you have so many that none of them actually take responsibility for the drill? If RTB is present do they just defer to him? Would it be more productive if RTB wasn't there?
And one final question, how much does it cost to transplant a Moreton Bay Fig tree? They did it at Elizabeth Quay didn't they?

Soul will come with time.

And sometimes it’s overrated. I doubt many will care about the history and soul of Subi once they experience the amenity and views offered by the new stadium.

Despite all the pessimism,no way am I giving up on Bennell. Seeing his name in our best 22 excites me like nothing else. Harley will desperately want to be a part of the purple blood brothers and this will keep him focussed. All he needs to do is give up the grog completely, which is not that hard to do,and I speak from experience. If he wants it that badly, he will. Support is what he needs and I think he has it. Please Harley, for the love of god, let your footy do the talking and make it your party.

Yes this is the answer, all we can do is wait to see if he has the willpower/desire to do it.

The other factor, of course, is the chronic injuries he suffers, another one and I really worry about how you could front up again. He needs to do some serious training to even be a chance of avoiding injury again during the season.

In the meantime, like Fyfey I will concentrate on the team available and hope Harley is a bonus at some stage of the year. That's with him and that's were I leave it.

Seems like a waste of time for 11 coaches.

Sometimes less is more.
