Ok, my emotions are more in check now. Overall I think our trade results are solid. Would've like more for Hogan, but getting May and KK for 6 is a good deal. My main worry with May is him having a brainfart and getting suspended at an inopportune time but he does make our defence much stronger.

If KK can get a clear run from concussion he'd be a steal as steak knives in the trade.

SO after having thought about it I think I'm on board.

Fact is, Hogan wanted out, and there went any of our leverage. We ended up doing well to get what we did out of him leaving.

Frost, May, Jetta
Hibberd, Omac, Lever

(with Fritsch, Salem, KK, Lewis, TMac, Wagner, Hunt (I still believe), J.Smith all able to swing through there if need be) is up there with the best/deepest defense in the league I would have thought.

Gawn/Preuss, Brayshaw, Oliver, Viney, Jones, Harmes, ANB, AVB, Petracca and Salem (pinch hitting) is up there with the best Ruck/Midfields in the league. Still got players like JKH, and Stretch who are capable as depth in case of injuries.

However.
Spargo, Weid, Melksham
Hannan/Garlett, TMac, Petracca

with players like Gawn, Preuss, Tim Smith and Fristch covering as depth or swinging through there is not a forward line that wins flags. I think it would be hard to argue against that statement. It will be OK against below par teams, but we will again be really super reliant on huge amounts of inside 50s and a really well functioning forward line to kick scores. Admittedly that pretty much did happen when Hogan was out of the side last year, but if we cop an injury or two out of those 6 or 8 players, we're in makeshift mode.

We are also super reliant on Weideman which worries me enormously. He is very much still developing and he's now playing pretty much the most difficult position on the park, right when we should be contending as a side. TMac missed the first 7 games too with that foot or whatever it was so he's no certainty to play every game and even though he kicked 50 goals, I still feel like he isn't really a proper forward. It's working though I guess.

I definitely want some super fast goal-sneak/tackling machines to add to that forward line setup as insurance.

Other than that, our list is still way up there in terms of youth-experience, defence, mids, rucks and overall balance. There aren't any absolutely glaring holes. We are just a bit thin up forward IMO. With this list we should most certainly be aiming for top 4. Finals at an absolute minimum.

We don't need to worry about scoring output IMO.

We still have:

T Mac - 53 goals
Melksham - 32
ANB - 27
Hannan - 22 (15 games, thats 32 over a full season)
Petracca - 19 (room for improvement)
Garlett - 18 (11 games)
Fritsch - 17 (played down back alot to cover Lever/Smith)
Gawn -13
Weid - 10 (10 games, should kick closer to 30 next year)

Plus a bunch of midfielders between the 10 and 15 mark.

Yep, can't argue with that. I guess I just think we are still super reliant on our defence/midfield for our goals, rather than true forward craft (like the premiers have). If that's our strategy though, so be it.

Hope it goes better than experiments with Aaron Rogers and Liam Hulett did...
We drafted the wrong Aaron Rogers. Shoulda taken Aaron Rodgers.

Furthermore to harry000 point.

Collingwoods forward line had Stephenson, De Goey, Hoskin Elliot, Cox, Thomas.

All we gotta do is find one crumber somewhere and we will have ample fire power. That and Petracca finally exploding.

Here we go.
Some of you campaigners need to go an head butt a ******* mirror, give it a good old Scottish kiss.
HOGAN wanted to ******* leave an wouldn't sign a contract, we had no ******* leverage at all in this deal...NONE.
Next year he would have left for even less and we would have had to pay huge wages for may as a FA.
Josh Mahoney is my hero today, I don't give a **** about 'winning trade period' I give a **** about winning premierships.

If you remove Hogans 47 goals completely, we still finish 4th for points for. 4TH!!
ADD 8 ******* goals and we finish outright 2nd.

Our team looked at the list and said we have, a surplus of forwards and turned it into one of the best lists in the AFL hands down.

We now have a young and senior FB
A young and senior FF
A young and senior ruck

Good riddance to Hogan
I would have gone with Liverpool kiss, its a much more popular phrase.
