Didn't think Walsh was in our bests this week. Battled like a madman, but the step-up in pressure affected his efficiency with the ball. I mark him harshly...

I rate Setters and Dow's efforts because they are young but playing right in the coalface. I thought along with the skipper they largely matched guns like Cotch, Dusty, Edwards and the Meatball. Dow plays hard. No wonder he looks puffed at times. He uses plenty of power and at times wastes some energy with unnecessary chases trying to do the right thing. Another preseason and we've got a really good player.

Setters is a natural. He gets where the ball is going to be. Constructive player. And poised. Like Dow, one more preseason with Russell and look out.

BNB Walsh (I realise that this contradicts my votes above, but if diving can have its “degrees of difficulty”, then surely I can run with my “degrees of newness”)
