I could well be wrong but I am trying to convince myself -
We have recruited players with a bit more pace but we have still played a very congested style as they haven't had the tank to play a more open style.
I think this makes our kicking look really bad when (with a few exceptions) most of our best 22 kick fairly well.
I think if the younger guys can run harder for longer everything else may look better.
When we can run strongly we will change our style a bit and leave some structure in front of the ball with guys with the pace to beat opponents on the spread.

I am all for getting the guys behind the ball to take it on - knowing the guys we leave in front of the ball are working into space.
We will look quicker and better kicks.
Talent is OK. Need a bit more class everywhere but so does everyone.
We are not too far away????

Just watched all the highlights of each game from this season. Excuse my lack of knowledge as I'm a newcomer.

Who really impressed me from the blokes I didn't know was Ronke. Some of the goals he kicked were insane including the 7 against the Hawks and the 5 against North.

Also liked the look of Papley and Jones.

From what I can tell already this squad has got a nice crop of youngsters with the obvious experienced talent. From the highlights I saw they were a little erratic at times and lost some games they should have won but then surprised some real heavyweights.

The thing about teams like that as while they are frustrating because they don't fill their potential, they're usually awesome to watch particularly in attack.

But there is a big future for this crop, I'm liking the look of them and I think they'll take some confidence from some of the wins in '18.

Cheer Cheer.

Good post, lack of knowledge doesn’t stop the rest of us mate :p

Interesting thread title considering we don’t know the makeup of the list!

We know buddy is there

That’s a large portion of the plan

Kick it near him lads

I’d still like to know what the 2018 gameplan was

to lose the inside 50 count by 6 per game on average.

Sounds like a solid strategy for winning games.

Rely on stupidly accurate kicking and needing the opposition to miss consistently.

Just had a look at some stats.

Whilst we get pantsed in the hitouts

-16 / game on average

we basically break even on the clearances.

So our midfield isn't as doom and gloom as it seems.

Naismith may be the panacea we need.

In other good news, at least we seem to be getting more ruthless.

Hanners,
Towers,
Rohan
Foote

Seemingly we're creating list space.

Maybe swansfan51 can chime in with any potential benefits of having a smaller (in my mind) list size than we usually have.

Shame to hear about Foote - having grown up in the area I knew a few mutual friends with him and hoped as a local he'd get more gametime but I guess it wasn't to be.
