No

He rivals the other options in an attacking sense but isn't as accountable defensively - I'll add (in an attempt to make myself sound knowledgeable when in fact probably entirely spurious) that the new 6-6-6 rule increases the need for individual defensive accountability....
I agree he isn’t our best option but I’m not sure about the 66 6 rule. It’s only for about 3 seconds and backs will actually have more help in that time because it will be crowded down there. But let’s face it we are all guessing at the moment

Seriously p66 I'm in two minds on whether i'm missing your joke here and you're going to ping me for it as I've mentioned in the past that you have your pet arguments of which the impact of 666 is one - two rucks being another that I do a personal sweepstake on the speed of your reply when somebody mentions it, but.....

I did say 'when in fact probably entirely spurious'.....

I know you said that. I was hoping you could explain why you think it could be more important even though you said spurious. I’m just trying to get peoples ideas on this rule. I have one idea without proof. Others may have different ideas. None of us are right or wrong yet

Based on reports i have read on Big Footy, which I have no reason to doubt, it became obvious to me that the Hanners pic has been photoshopped.

Through my contacts at the AFL I was able to obtain the original image

when you have to explain an attempt at being funny...

I said I'd say it to sound knowledgeable when probably entirely spurious

My opinion of the rule change is it could have a massive impact if the coaches do as they say and coach to the desire of the rule - focus on attack etc., but I have absolutely no doubt that they'll have a defensive plan for it if they're the team losing clearances and so it will mean that it will end up having no impact whatsoever and we'll be talking about going the whole hog with zones by week 3.

This is the reason I think the 6/6/6 setup will be minor at least. It assumes the coaches will be unable to come up with a defensive plan to slow the ball movement out of the centre.

Perhaps the defensive method is a small mobile ruckman who doesn't really contest the centre bounces but plays almost as a fourth midfielder.

Intention is only to get a second ruck contest. Back to square 1.

666 rule. The AFL's version of Schrodingers cat.

Talking about Hannebery , imagine if he can get on the park and play some good football and Acres , Steele , Gresham , Billings , Ross , Steven have good seasons we will play finals.
Having Bruce , Roberton back fit and firing will be a massive plus.

Forward set up is still up in the air to me.
McCartin has to show something in the preseason games , because atm I think Marshall and Battle would be better value than Paddy - I just hope Paddy kills it.
My understanding is that Longer is a while off being ready to play seniors, so I wouldn't be surprised to see RoMa get a gig round 1 so that he and Bruce will switch fwd/ruck whole game

Pierce looks like he will get the role in my opinion.

I think AFL has become defence-centric. The AFLW has not had a chance to develop organically to produce really high skills for all to see because they have copied the AFL defensive mindset. This is not to say they aren't highly skilled, it is that the defensive game negates that skill somewhat. Clearly it is this defensive game that wins coaches matches otherwise it wouldn't be such a focus. The 6 6 6 rule will be handled by defensive strategies. I think we will see a few different approaches early but within a short time we will all adopt similar strategies.

Pierce looks like he will get the role in my opinion.
If Pierce is given the role that makes Marshall a near certain round 1 starter? Especially with our depleted backline, Roma could easily play behind the ball as well chopping out in the ruck when needed.

Makes me very curious to see if the club start with Paddy up front. We’ve got a lot of smalls to fit in with the likes of Long, Lonie, Kent, Parker, Young all pushing hard for selection.

After Ratten’s comments regarding Hawthorn putting in a lot of work into Skunk when defending our kick outs I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a slight role change and is used a bit further up the ground as a link main. This could then see a 2 pronged combo of McCartin and Bruce inside 50. Really starting to like the look of;

HF: Membrey, Bruce, Kent
F: Long, McCartin, Lonie

Obviously Gresh and JB will spend time there, also wouldn’t surprise me to see Stuv deep forward more often given the change up in midfield rotations. Parker has been flying from all reports, should be an interesting JLT series with so many positions up in the air.

If our tall forwards are potent enough to free up Membrey to play between the flanks then that would be a big bonus. With his marking ability and agility, Membrey could be a better version of Tom Lynch (Ade) in that position.

Hi Stavro , just wondering if you have seen Lewis training lately and how you think he is tracking
Worked his ass off. Club have literally said to the three boys it’s yours if you want it. Step up.

Billy also working hard too. But Lewie is just surprising. I’m rooting for him
