Training 2020 Pre Season Training

How many preseason news articles has the club put out do you reckon? 10? Not even one per week. Still nothing only a few days out from the first match practice.
To be fair, we have had endless articles, photos and video on players holidays, births and marriages, the BIG T20 match, the aquatic centre, the draftees bios and of course the merits of playing Tex on the wing.

Pretty much everything other than information about our training and the health of our players.

For sure

There was a reason port let him go for steak knives though

He wanted out as was given few opportunities despite out performing those playing in their AFL team.

Read their board about how many were frustrated Kenny was not giving him a fair go.

It's smart list management to bring in a player of need for peanuts, as we have nothing to lose. At worst he is useful depth after we have traded out JJ & Jacobs.

I know that internal practice matches can be misleading but it does give a hint about how Nicks rates our squad.

Conservatively there are a minimum of 11 locks for Round One, if they are fit;
Brown, Talia, Doedee, Laird, Sloane, Smith, Brouch, Mrouch, Milera, ROB, Tex.

From the internal trial;
McAsey > Butts and Worrell. (Hartigan injured)
Gibbs and Mackay > Kelly, Sholl, Hamill and McPherson
Poholke, Seedsman, Jones and Davis > Atkins, Keays, McHenry, Wilson and Gollant.
Fogarty and Himmelberg > Frampton and Strachan
Murphy, Lynch, McAdam and Stengle > Gallucci, Crocker, Knight, Shoenberg and O’Connor.

The key surprises to me are

1) The fall of Kelly and the incredible resilience of Bran Nue Mackae

2) Poholke and Davis above Atkins, Keays and McHenry.

3) Murphy, McAdam and Stengle all above Gallucci, Crocker, Keays and Knight.

Perhaps we picked a best 18 for the Crows Team plus six contenders and other contenders were in the Yellow Team so we could test them against our best players (i.e. Kelly, Sholl, Hamill, Atkins etc).

I guess we will find out on Thursday night.
I don't think we'll get too many answers on Thursday. Most of the youngsters will be held back, to play in the U23 game next week. That will leave a veteran-heavy team for this week. We'll find out a lot more in 2 weeks' time, when our team for the 2nd pre-season game is named.

What? Because I’m not an excited fanboi about a player that’s played 3 games in 5 years?

I’m on a record here more than once that I don’t particularly like him as a player, no. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see him succeed and I’ll be as happy as anyone if he kicks 40 goals for us this year - I just don’t think he will.

I also just think it’s a little bit bizarre and more than a little bit creepy that people here are so excited about a player who, lets be honest, they just want to see thug around hitting people.

I’d thought that mentality was left in the 70’s.
I've barely seeing anyone say that.

Most have just said that he had a better SANFL season than Himmelburg last year, and all things being equal that should count for something.

Maybe or maybe not

His defencies are well known

Can he fix them who knows time will tell

At best he could play aswell as say Ian Perrie did for us at worst he will be cut at year end

If he can hold a mark and compete at AFL level why has he played 3 games in 5 years?
Because Port have been loaded with talls. And 2019 was the first year they used him primarily as a tall forward.

I thought it was more he wanted out for more opportunities and he was out of contract?

Scott Lycett 203cm
Peter Ladhams 203 cm
Sam Hayes 203cm
Charlie Dixon 200cm
Justin Westhoff 200cm
Wylie Buzza 199cm
Todd Marshall 198 cm

And port felt generous and gave him away although he could be a champ

Or Wingard was in the Burton trade

Wtf has that to do with my post?

You incorrectly stated Frampton was traded for a 6th rounder rather than a 4th rounder.

The fact you have already written him off gives me confidence that he will be a valuable contributor for us.

Contracted to the end of 2022....He isn't going to be cut at year end.

Frampton can kick a football with reasonable accuracy....Perrie however.. These well known deficiencies are?

Blows my mind that in a position we are absolutely stacked with young talent it looks like the coaches are considering Mackay instead
Even without that young talent, some of our best ball movers play down there.

But again, that would be 6 head coaches that have picked him.

Yeah AA Wingard

We are talking a 6th rounder for Frampton aren't we

Future 4th rounder actually... but it's not like you are usually loose with the truth... ;)

WTF has it to do with your post?

You entered intp a discussion that was about both the Wingard trade and Frampton

You cant pick things out of a discussion and say what has that got to do with it, when it was clearly being writtent, oh wait yes you do, lucky I dont give a toss what you think and you dont what I think hey

AS for 6th rounder what do you think I wrote that for, it was just easier to write than a half a packet of chips
