Just out of interest, who is 1st? Lynch's consistency and long term performance is miles ahead of Walker's. Betts & JJ are gone, I sincerely doubt you're talking about Murphy, Fogarty is promising but doesn't have a "long term performance" record yet. I'm struggling to think who would be picked ahead of Lynch?
Walker for mine, again until someone appears that can do better, maybe Fogarty can in time.

I might be wrong but personally I see McAsey as a defender first and foremost.....Worrell may be our next Tom Lynch once he builds his tank....maybe.

I think the solution would be to have ROB at all CBAs, and then get Tex to do some work in the F50. Otherwise, we could go really innovative and have Gaucc as our ruck in the F50 and just have him shark the taps with the occasional jump off the long run (Trent Ormond-Allen style).

For me the tall fowards are Fog, Tex and Lynch and try to eliminate the need for a 2nd ruck unless Frampton/Berg start to demand selection
ROB will need to be on the bench at times, so we will need someone else who can take centre bounces too.

I would consider Himmelberg playing CHB & following their 2nd ruck, with Doedee covering CHB during this time.

But we need to consider all options.

I'd have ROB on the bench for short rests, and then bring him back on for the CBA. It would be up to the team to slow the play (we are good at that) when he needs a rest so as not to have any goals kicked

Berg at CHB means we aren't playing McAsey

I like how much people are willing to suggest Himmelburg as a key defender, considering he's never played a minute as CHB in senior football.

You don't think there's even a fleeting chance he might just be a better option than Kyle Hartigan given that's where he played quite a bit as a junior and actually got drafted off of his Championships performances in defence though admittedly our recruiters saw him as a forward by all reports. His ability to not stick enough marks he gets his hands to has become a bit of an issue with him and doesn't bode well for his chances to furnish into a top line AFL forward IMO unless he improves sharply in that area of his game.

Sounds perfect

They're all failed forwards after all

I reckon any down form on

The only time I can remember us really using him to run with a guy was early last year against Cunnington with North and he was down on his usual form that game.
I also remember him standing next to Fyfe at stoppages here in Adelaide. I'll go short of saying he was playing on him, because that would be misleading, as Fyfe ran rampant. CEY had a lot of touches too, but did nothing to stop Fyfe.

Does he have the physical attributes to tag these big guys - sure, but I have never seen the intensity or concentration levels required to stick at it for a whole game or across the whole ground, not just in the clearances

Unusual for a 1st year KPP to come straight in, whereas Himmelberg has been in the system a couple of years & is more ready to go.

Agree, but we are talking about different scales when it comes to talent. We'd be better to compare him with Fog, Naughton, Luko, Ben King, Blakey who all showed something in their first year. I'm hoping he plays 10-15 games

Sounds a bit too optimistic to me. I'd be ecstatic if his form warranted that.

Lever played 12 for us in his first year

I can see McAsey playing 10-15 as a third tall, if we get injuries to Doedee Kelly types
Would our culture allow McAsey to leapfrog Kelly?

We've had a pretty strongly established pecking order system in place.

Interesting to see if Nicks subscribes to it or not

You've already been given a couple of examples yet you still feel the need for a snide comment.

Never change.

Played quite a bit there in the SANFL and played their in the TAC Cup. Hes got butter hands so is better back where he can spoil.
I've never seen Himmelburg play a minute at CHB in the SANFL.

Maybe.

But you're talking about maybe 20 games he played five years ago.

If we think he's a chance at CHB he needs to spend a couple of months playing there in the 2nds before he could be considered.

Definitely up there, seems to have a real feel on how to put it to the advantage of our forwards, rather than just blindly hacking it in there. Just need to settle him into a role that allows him to get the ball a bit more often - Hopefully the Mackay role of HB/wing.

I reckon Gooch would have to be more Douglas role, midfield with some time at HFF. He's probably one who is praying that under Nicks, half-forward isn't a wasteland.

Wouldn't be worrying too much about what Gormless says in regard to Lynch, he's been rattling on with the same boring crap about him on BF for what seems like an eon....same old, same old.

Not like the last year with our entire window imploding, our main prospect being changed to defence for a period, and our forward line being completely dysfunctional didn't justify every complaint I had and then some that retaining Lynch was a bad call...

Take out the window imploding, and I'm batting at 100%. I was too much of an optimist to predict that one, as much as I did mention it.
