With Kamala Harris declaring she is running as a Democrat for the 2020 Presidency I thought it might be time to have a thread about those that have nominated

Republican Declared Nominees

Donald Trump

Republicans that have expressed interest in nominating

Bob Corker
Jeff Flake
Larry Hogan
John Kasich
Bill Kristol

Democrats that have formerly announced

Elizabeth Warren
Kamala Harris
Kirsten Gillibrand
Tulsi Gabbard
Julian Castro
John Delaney
Richard Ojeda

There are also other candidates that have expressed interest but have no affiliation at either major party

Would Warren be the potential first woman and first claimed native American President?

It's an interesting idea that Trump might not run, whether it's an ego thing so he can say he never lost or something more procedural it would derail the Democrat campaign.

A cleanskin Republican candidate who has a daughter dating a prominent African American sports identity would tick all the boxes for them.

Watch the fur fly
Then Beto wins the nomination
Seems to be adopting the (now) popular online presence that Obama rode on. Its hard trying to correlate his Texas run as either an anti-Trump message or an endorsement for him

Shall see soon I guess

Has the cash and the celeb endorsements
So far I don't see a threat to him getting to nomination

Biden maybe if he does run

Republican other possible contenders?

Haley, Cruz, Romney and dare I add Rubio? Out of left field perhaps Lisa Murkowski?

This is the list I found of Democrats - two short of a Melbourne Cup field. (Some maybe not of the same quality and not genuine stayers).

Harris probably has the early advantage on demographics and profile. CA has shifted to Super Tuesday this time, so should give her some momentum if she survives until then.

Personally I think Klobuchar would be their best bet to win.

Nominee is the person the party picks at the end. Candidate is everyone who tries to become the nominee.

I have so many to choose from this time, unlike last time. Who should I choose? Who should I choose?

The Illinois Primary is on St Patrick's Day(March 17) in 2020.

Bernie is little more than a spoiler in that field - all he'd be doing is sucking support and a clean run away from the numerous more viable progressive candidates.

Interesting practice runs for Castro and Booker (presuming both put their hands up) - can see both as legit candidates down the track, just not this time around.

I don’t see how that’s the case? Yes there’s other progressives but no other self-proclaimed socialists, so in that sense he’s staked out his own ground. He’s also doing better than any of the other progressive Democrats in all polls so far, so I don’t see why you would argue that...

...unless you’re just wanting more establishment Democrats like these two, in which case good luck to you.

So many to choose from. It's like eating at a Vegas buffet, a good one like Caesars Bacchanal, not Circus Circus Buffet!

Tulsi announced on Saturday. She's not even a real Hawaiian! Imagine that. And her birth certificate can prove it! Sorry, Donald.

Just talked to my Republican brother in Illinois. He thinks at this stage that the only hope the Democrats have at the moment is Joe Biden(an old white guy) or Amy Klobucher( a white moderate woman) who can win back those 2016 Trump voters in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He doesn't think that the other candidates, no matter what race or religion, could beat Trump as of Feb 3, 2019, unless Trump is impeached. My brother is a RINO who did not vote for Trump in 2016. He held his nose and voted for Hillary. For next year he's undecided at the moment, but will vote for Trump if Biden or Klobucher isn't the nominee. I am taking him out of my will if he does that.

Oh yeah... he'd support Kasich in a primary against Trump. How RINO of him!

Quite a big audience for Harris. Estimates range between 15 - 20K.

In here home town...

Here other speeches have had small turn outs.
Well she ticks two boxes - woman and minority so she will push for that as much as possible and people will vote just because it's so progressive to do so! She slept with San Francisco mayor Willie Brown to kick start her career (a man 30 years here senior). Her criminal justice record is less than stellar. Her points on key issues are ordinary and generic. Little chance. At least she isn't a fake minority like Warren.
