Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Erasmus has Yeo and Fyfe like qualities - tall midfielders that are great in the air are a rarity.
I understand he's definitely in the frame for our current first rounder.

I was on Erasums once Callaghan wasn't available to us. The guy's resume stacks up like a want list for us. I'm still hoping for him. Classy acumulaters who can run both ways like Ward can are important. But Ward for mine seems an upgrade on a type of player we have already in spades - hard working, similar height death by 1000 cuts types.

Erasmus looks more impactful.

Rachele is interesting. He's been likened to an Allan Didack type player - isn't super quick, a stand out athlete, but is SUPER clever and can find the goals easily.

Interestingly Rachele always finds space on the lead, which indicates he might be a little deceptive in the pace department. But I think high 2.9s for 20 meters is around his best based on footage.

Don't know how exactly you judge whether a small forward with those traits will manage to step it up to AFL where space is tighter, and defenders work together better. Whatever, all I know is he's not Charlie Cameron, Poppy, Cyril or the bloke from Melbourne.

OT but Dylan Moore did come right out of left field with less obvious upside (from my perspective at least he looked as Neapolitan vanilla as any player I've seen save for endurance), and turned into high level forward whose smarts are well above the average.

Not sure who we get after Erasums assuming the club wants him over Ward.

My dream is it's Callaghan and Erasmus somehow, or Mac Andrew the smokey. Then hpefully WM and DW with a later pick or two, and throw a blanket over a handful of others.

Erasmus doesn't have elite foot skills from the scant vision I have seen. Very hit and miss. Ward the classier player but not as impactful as a forward obviously.

Everyone is banking that Freo will take Erasmus but I can see him sliding. Potentially outside the top 10. Too long until the draft now lol

Reminds me of Mark mercuri slightly. He was a very smart clever player who played across high half Frwd most of his career.

It's definitely tough with limited vision and reading on some players. Often highlights don't necessarily show you the things you'd like to see as well. Particularly if they're only pulled from a single game or two.

Agree. His kicking technique doesn't look right from what I've seen. Ward, on the other hand, looks clinical.

Hard to gauge it properly being in outside conditions, Gibcus jumped 6cm less!
Read the article to find out why!

Due to the inclement weather the jumps had to be conducted under an awning, with Gibcus jumping higher than the awning device. The flying defender's personal best is 95cm, which was recorded at the NAB League testing day earlier this year. – Callum Twomey

I know why, the weather would've also impacted all the testing.
Yes, hard to tell how the wind affected running results. 2.97 is reasonable for the sprint, but was it with the wind or against it. Anyway the results are relative and more than likely the result order would have been the same whether it was inside or outside.

Sam Butler’s combine results impressive, came out of no where ……… probably no one has picked the kid we will take with our first pick 😄

Erasmus is one of the less proven prospects, given his lack of WAFL and Colts games. He is no doubt exciting, but for our top pick I would prefer a more proven talent. I wouldn't be mad with him though, just prefer Ward. I've said my piece on him before, but Ward isn't the same player Worpel, Titch and JOM are. Less accumulator, more outlet and I think he would be the perfect player to highlight our midfield strengths. He just happened to be racking up a ton of footy at 18s.

There are certainly sufficient midfielders around, some of them may last till our second rate picks. How does Z Taylor stack up with Ward, you still have taller type in Knevitt and Goater who are both taller, latter meant to have played well along side Ward.

Mercuri was one of the smartest, most skilful and lethal forward/mids I have seen play.
He was so hard to defend. If we think Rochelle could be as good, we should take him with our first pick.

I've noticed there's a bloke in the comments of these posts on Twitter called Teflon Snake, had a few comments on how shit Hawthorn are and his profile picture is Ben Cunnington. What are the odds he's BigFooty's very own Snake Baker?

To me I think Erasmus will a have a lot more upside than Ward.
