Toffoli is the first player in NHL history to have his first five goals for a new club all being scored against his previous club.

Toffoli has 18 goals in 30 games vs the Canucks, Benning might have tried harder to keep him.

Yes but Jim Benning sucks so I prey that the season ends up being written off and he gets sacked and we stop signing morons like Tyler Myers and Patterson/Hughes stand a chance of winning something in the future
Yeah, unfortunately every Canadian team says the same thing. They have a solid core though. It was probably Vigneaults time to go but would have liked them to have stuck with Tortorella for a bit longer.

I went back to check exactly what I wrote on this, and I was relived I didn't write off the idea of keeping him:
But we couldn't really keep him because we signed Holtby (who at least seems like a lovely person!) + qualified Virtanen. Plus I recall there being a brief moment of time where Michael Ferland's agent flagged that he wanted to return from his concussions next season, which was absolutely nuts, but meant we couldn't bank on sending him to Robidas Island.
Not being able to keep Toffoli was always likely, which is why trading for him in the first place was stupid. But Benning loves to do dumb ****!

It’s a low base going by his first few games. Looks disinterested. Might be injured, hope it isn’t a care factor.
Fair point. Just watched a bit of their last game he seemed to get in better position. Disappointing start for sure. Would have loved to grab him in my fantasy draft but happier to have got an injured Pasta.

Since they ended up sacking Gillis (truly the worst move) the same season, it actually wouldn't have been the worst thing to keep Torts around for another season (I say as a talented youngster seeks to leave CBJ) but once he did the whole "storming the Flames dressing room" thing he kinda had to go. and we did end up getting a 2nd round draft pick for Torts

Nbcsn is about to be dumped by nbc at the end of this year. How will this affect the pending tv rights

Perfect start for the Stars putting up a touchdown vs Nashville.
I dont rate Nashville at all but still, to have basically had no camp or practise from the Covid outbreak thats a nice start first up.
First time the Stars have scored 5 PP goals in a game since the move to Texas. Nice.

Ok cool. So who’d you drop to get Pastrnak back in a team - Atkinson, Gusev or Batherson?
Leaning towards Atkinson but looks like Laine might be moving to Columbus. He probably wouldn’t be on line with him though I guess.

BJs go in big with Laine for Dubois. Dubois doesn't really get his big market wish... guy has issues clearly after one good season he thinks he's Crosby.
Gusev has started the season poorly in NJ.
I would drop him but put him on your watchlist as he can get hot quickly. Probably needs Hischier to come back from injury.
