Doedee (c), ROB and McPherson would be my leadership group from 2022 onwards. Maybe Matt in there too if he stays.
I doubt the club will give crouch the long term deal he will be looking for. Will likely end up interstate imo. Would put Schoenberg in that group for a potential leader down the track.

I doubt that very much.

PW mentioned Tex was the only guy who asked what he could do better for the team. Based on his 15-17 output it's hard to argue.

From there both he and Talia fell away.

Tals would've done a good job though
Just because Tex was the only player that asked how he can make the club better doesn't necessarily mean he was the best choice as Captain.

Saw it mention on Twitter the AFL thinking of introducing a "concussion sub" to games now, which means teams will have to travel with 23, so we'll potentially have a young players missing games for that.

Also talk players and coaches want the interchange restrictions raised from 75 as well.

This is why we have David Mackay in the squad.

Him, Paul Seedsman and Jake Kelly should rotate through the role and the SANFL if it's brought in

Bring back the bib! Bring back the bib!

You'd think a guy like that would be perfect for it. I remember when the regular sub vest was in and a young Bulldogs side used Giansiracusa as the sub nearly every week so a young guy didn't get stuck with it.

I know we always name an emergency for late outs, so I imagine this is just now a case of giving the emergency the ability to play if a concussion happens, but do we ever release a guy to then go play in the SANFL after we know they won't be needed for the AFL side if the SANFL is playing at around the same time?

I assume they'll do what they did last time... if no player was subbed out by 3/4 time, then teams could make their own substitution. At least this allowed the sub to play 1/4 of the game.

It was better than nothing, but it wasn't enough - many a sub was spotted doing laps of the oval after the game, getting miles into his legs so he didn't lose fitness, having only played a few minutes of the actual game.

Apparently with this rule it'll basically be no more concussion tests done to see if it's OK that the player goes back out. You take a knock to the head and you're done and the sub comes on and the 12 day concussion protocol starts. Not sure if they're planning on using it as a larger sub type situation coming back on.

Of course you from the outside would have more internal intel than the current day head coach Phil Walsh....you make some monumentally bad calls and this ones right up there.

Perhaps if the coaches previously used the sub rule like it was intended, they would have already had their concussion sub.

To be honest its the perfect job for a MaKay type player, the Kids should play AFL or SANFL every week.

How did they originally intend it?
Sub this guy on if you get an injury...not if you want some extra run in the last quarter.

It was 3+1, then when it was scrapped, it went to 4 interchange.

If they want the concussion sub, go back to 3+1.

However the introduction of the interchange cap at 120 rotations per match across three players and a substitute in 2014 saw the substitute less important to ensure fairness if a team lost a player during the game due to injury.

The concussion substitute has also been an important benefit of the substitute but the AFL Medical Officers are comfortable the examination of players suspected of suffering concussion will still continue as required with coaches aware of the importance of that process.

The contract extension for cooked star push is in overdrive early this year. Based on the comments coming out of the club Tex is a good chance for the Coleman. I'm thinking a 2 year extension has already been inked and cue the Tex has wound back the clock articles for most of the season.

He will be given every opportunity to succeed this year even at the expense of getting games into our young squad imo. I hope he can deliver as they are really building him up as the third coming. Riccuito has outdone himself this time looking after his mates.

So far this PS, neither of those two have happened.

Tex will be the first one to tell selectors to play one of the younger players if they are doing well. Let's hope we have pressure on for spots.

Bullshit he will. That's the opposite of the senior player culture that he helped foster. Tex's 2020 stats are no different to Fog or Frampton and worse than Himmelberg's. He'll stand in front of all of them and future generational pick 2 forward Thilthorpe. He's no different to past senior players.

The article pushed by the club recently was along the lines of, 'who will stand up to help Tex?'. So he's penned in all year as stated by me as early as last season.
