Thats it.
We wont put our senior experienced players in that position but we expect our 5 gamer mids to perform in that HFF role
I don't have a problem with it..... If they have shown forward ability in the past.

No it isn’t. You just made a start yourself.
Huh? Have you seen our kpd stocks?

I wouldn't have taken him and I agree that finding good kpds later in the draft is probably easier than any other position, but going for a guy who looked like a likely Talia replacement was not a stupid call on face value. If you saw a prospect and knew they'd be as good as Talia, you'd throw a top 10 pick easily. If they overestimated his talent and also his willingness to stay in Adelaide, that's an issue.

Might be time to tap Frampton on the shoulder at training and tell him to train with the defenders. We are lacking in the tall KPD department.
I thought this was going to say tell him to play on Mcasey lol. The old Hartigan treatment.

No, he was probably better
That's true actually.

Talia had a good Championships too but not as good as McAsey's Vic Metro M.V.P.

Nothing McAsey showed as a junior showed anything close to being Talia-esque.
Nope you're wrong, McAsey was outstanding right through his junior career a lot of which he played as forward before switching to defence in his draft year

Represented Vic Metro at the U16 National Championships playing mostly as a forward and then at the U18 National Championships playing in defence taking out the VM M.V.P. Also captained his school Caulfield Grammar best XV111

Yes. It's astonishing. There's like 8 good long term players in that side and that's counting both Swallow and Scully
You didn't count Anthony Morobito because he could have been anything bar for his knees?

I thought he played more like Keath than Talia. From the vision I saw he seemed better suited to the 3rd tall intercepting defender type rather than a Talia shutdown type defender.

He is obviously going but the club needs to find a way so that every Crows player that does media doesn't get asked about him and we don't have to listen to our guys roll out a prepared answer.

It was well known he was leaving mid year. It wasn't a case he decided the day after his media commitments had finished.

One of his kids even told the class at school but that he was told not to tell anyone.

So? He is a very strange inclusion in your named players. Not sure on your point if you use all of Dangerfield Gov and Betts as examples...

The initial trade was a good one we just picked the wrong player, I think I was wanting either Serong, Young or Flanders.

Didnt carlton offer to trade for pick 6 as well but we wanted another first round pick as well?
I believe that was the rumour, but that one had us moving down from 6 to like 10, which was our original 1st rounder. I think they'd only offer a 2nd rounder, we wanted a 1st, so it didn't go anywhere and Carlton traded it to the Suns for pick 17 and 22 instead.

He was included because of the uncertainty of his future played out in the media. All clubs have them but we seem to have had more and it becomes a huge distraction and also doesn't do alot for the reputation not the club when players sit on the fence with rumours circulating.

McAsey hasn’t started his career with us well

But also, welcome to the AFL. You will be playing on (100kg behemoth). Our statuesque forward line will be applying zero pressure so you are effectively defending 15 vs 18. Good luck!

Just let him get some form in the SANFL first please. Then promote him with confidence.

Maybe he wants to leave. Maybe he doesn’t. His manager should be finding out what the market is so that he can get a good deal from us. Either way I’d like to see him play some good footy.

I still think he could be a better forward.

Talented either end. Drafting him was not a mistake.

I never really rated him and was glad when we delisted him.

He does have a point regarding us shunting young mids to graveyard half forward roles. Knight, Poholke, Galluci now Jones, Mchenry, Schoenberg.

I don’t subscribe to the half forward “graveyard”. It’s not like 50-60 years ago plus when you played a set position and pretty much stayed there all game. All players have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the play. They don’t have to wait for the ball to come to them.

Sounds like an excuse to me

What if we end up with Thilthorpe as a peak Grundy level ruckman and McAsey as a gun Key forward? Then we back fill the defence with more experienced recruits. Pretty sure we would be ok with that.

Or you end up with both of them as gun KPFs and work out what to do with Fogarty.
