Is it this year when clubs can't match bids for players picked between 1-20? I'm sure I saw that somewhere earlier.

From what I can work out, the 2 Qld clubs and Sydney don't have NGA's for indigenous and multicultural kids. GWS has an NGA for council areas that have a border for all of the Murray River, the rest of their zone they don't have to set up NGA's, just scooped the kids up in their academy.
Father-son and 4 northern clubs academies aren't subject to new NGA rules.

They traded it last year. I think it was to GWS for a pick swap in the 20’s. Good deal for the giants as that Collingwood pick is firming to be top 10.

Heard Johnny Butcher being interviewed on where are they now, and bloody hell he is only 29. Turn himself into a ruckman (as he plays a bit in NTFL) and he has 6 years on an AFL list left.

Watched the Grand Final and saw him rucking through the game for Nightcliff. He looked quite at home in that position with a bit of forward resting role. Noticeable too is his extra bulk he has put on .... I had to look twice to recognise him
It sounds like the Western Bulldogs are going to struggle keep all their players. Lipinski and Wallis (unrestricted free agent) sound very gettable. Wallis has been played out of position for about five years. I have a vague recollection he was a good mid. Lipinski has got a bit of class.
I think we bid on Wallis when he was first drafted
Bontempelli would be on a fair bit, so would the likes of Hunter and Macrae.
the likes of Naughton and English should demand bigger contracts next time around. But wasn’t Treloar still on Collingwood’s books?
We did. It was a long time ago but we rated him.
The article on the afl website implied Wallis and Lipinski were low priorities for the Bulldogs.

Wallis just got the vice captaincy this year so I doubt he'd be going anywhere, unless he remains out of the team for the whole year. Lipinski seems to be right on the fringe - a single injury to one of our mids and he's locked into the 22. Dogs fan growing up so would be easier for us to retain than your typical player.
Still, Wallis, Lipinski, McLean, Richards and Cordy have all played a reasonable amount of footy for us in the last 2 years and all could look elsewhere if opportunity is lacking (although McLean and Richards are currently injured, so who knows what happens when they return). If anyone goes, I'd imagine it's because of opportunity rather than a cap squeeze, which is probably good for other clubs since it means a large contract offer is less necessary to entice them away
