I’m with you on this. I’d say I’m not very confident.

Geelong has troubled us in the past this year and they’ll be coming in off a hit out last week. What has it been now, four weeks off for our team?

For me …

A loss would mean reinforcing the general anxiety I have as a Collingwood supporter. Winning every game of the season only to lose the GF just seems like a very Collingwood thing to do.

A good win would break the hoodoo. The girls would be reinventing the aura around Collingwood, they’d be taking this club we all know and love, and, well, they’d be making it a bit more lovable

I’d normally be expecting the former, but the 2019 VFLW season is making me optimistic about the latter.

I know we live in uncertain times with the scheduling and should be thankful we have any games, but would it have really been that much to ask to not have a scheduling clash between the VFLW Grand Final and one of the participating team’s senior men’s games?

Surely that would have been consistent with the AFL’s aim of building interest in women’s footy?

Especially if it can't be played for another 1 or 2 weeks.

Say it’s a 2-3 week lockdown that means both teams are coming in off an extended break. Yes Geelong played the game last week but the break could help negate that.

Why don't they just play the GF in Adelaide or Perth?

The girls VFL teams are not operating in the same 'bubble' as the senior men's teams. For that reason, Adelaide or Perth wont let them in without going into two weeks quarantine. The AFL teams are moving around with (reasonable) flexibility because of the stringent protocols they are all following.
