When I look at the best players for the Cats today (Selwood, Hawkins, Smith, Duncan , etc) it seems to indicate that strong, mature bodies still get it done in finals.

Reminds me of our great teams if the 1980s that kept getting written off for being too slow and too old but damn they just kept winning! Some powerful units in those sides well (Dipper, Ayres, Dunstall, etc).

All the talk about Cats being a geriatric home misses the point that strong, mature powerful men win games if AFL footy and makes me question somewhat the focus on youth and the draft.

Also makes me think we don't place enough emphasis on power/muscularity, the Cats were easily the biggest side in the comp this year.

I've said it many times before but I really, really hope we get some serious gym time into the likes of Day, DGB, etc as quite frankly I don't see how they could compete with the likes of Hawkins, Dangerfield, etc at their current build.
