Interesting how it seems to suggest if Essendon doesn't take him then he'll likely slide out of the top 10.

It might mean we have zero interest in taking him, which probably disappoints a few posters on here.

This is why I'm so surprised he's slipped down draft boards tbh.

Every single year there is a contested beast which lacks the wheels that slide.

Hobbs last year. Devon Robertson not long back. Even our own Jimmy Worpel.

I've been a big fan of him.

I'm going to go with the Bigfooty imprimatur and be dissapointed no matter who gets picked

Yup, and most of the time the slide is vindicated in the long term. Mathieson is another good example from 2015.

My memory of him was that he was quite shy and avoided speaking to the media for years. No doubt sure of himself on the field but seemed far less so off it.
I remember a post-game interview with Croad, the interviewer was talking about how good Buddy was and Croady responded with something like:

"Yeh, now we just need to work on his personality. At the moment, he's as interesting as an indoor fern!"

I think it was a game in 2007 or 2008.

For the details check

Massive chance this guy is still available at our later selections, but I personally rate him higher than that.
Can play anywhere on the ground and has no problem finding the footy.

'His numbers blew up the stats sheet with hauls of 24, 28, 37, 42 and 44 in that stint, earning him a Vic Country call-up in the final game. Unlike some who might just accumulate the ball, Gallagher generally uses it well and provides tons of run from the back half. His work rate is exceptional, and Gallagher even gets forward to boot goals'

He was quote as saying at the draft camp, to the question If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?

“Nothing.”
Hard to argue with his assessment now to be fair. Was shattered when he left, shockee that any hawk fan could feel otherwise. If the team was better without him (which I don’t think is true), that would be on Clarkson and the coaching staff for not getting the balance right. Not buddy.

Modern sport is littered with people widely admired for being supremely confident in their abilities. Jordan, Bird, Warne, Waugh etc. Not sure why when you are an 18 year old kid it is seen as some horrible thing. This answer he gives in the interview might sound cocky but he's absolutely right - if you want to make it you have to back yourself in and have full confidence in your abilities:

If he is on the board at our pick I hope we don't get scared off just because he rates himself a bit. Considering the youth of our team next year it wouldn't hurt to have a kid who already thinks he belongs in the side.

The writer spent more time saying Phillipiu is confident than Phillipou did. There was only one quote, which is essentially an old one now. Yet the writer must have mentioned the "confidence" multiple times.

Posters will read that and then we'll get the Mitch Thorp comments again.

Hotton, Jones and burgiel at our second.
