It seems we can't keep saying we're not a team of superstars, but just a super team. We've got some absolute stars!

huge congrats to Bates, what an excellent season.
She has beem around so long i thought she was in her 30s, she is only26. It's a young side all round.

Is this any more than rumour?

I think Essendon would be the ones trying to lure Anderson. Back in 2019 she went to Melbourne to play some games for their VFLW side hasn’t been able to the past two season because of Covid. I reckon Essendon would be trying to get her to join their AFLW side.

Of the girls not playing regular senior footy this year:

Sharni Webb - Missed a year due to parenthood and looked a little off the pace, but we're not exactly flush with KPD, so might be worth keeping as insurance.
Lily Postlethwaite - missed a year-and-a-bit due to an ACL injury. Has just resumed in the QWAFL and looking the goods once again. Was playing defence last time around, but with the rise of Ellenger and Pullar, it will be interesting where slots back in
Gabbi Collingwood - Don't know where Gabbi's head is at, but I'd be surprised if the club kept her on the list, at least for the time being. Very popular around the club but that might not be enough.
Maggie Harmer - first year player who got a debut in defence late in the season
Kate Lutkins - 33 but doesn't show any sign of slowing down
Bella Smith - Was named emergency a few time during the year so was obviously close.
Luka Yoshida-Martin - First year player and chalked up a few games
Jess Wuetschner - We all love Woosha, but it wouldn't surprise to see her retire or seek a fresh start. I hope not though.
Mikayla Pauga - First year player. Not sighted as yet, but big wraps.
Maria Moloney - Gives her all and might be one to get squeezed out as the younger girls come through.

Of others one the list that might be targeted for other reasons:
Indy Tahau - Port
Phoebe Monahan - Sydney
Lulu Pullar, Taylor Smith, Mikayla Pauga - Gold Coast (despite the fact in Smith's case they didn't want her going back a couple of years)
Cathy & Ruby Svarc - Essendon

The rest of the women I can't see moving unless there's any internal issues. or they're being offered money. I profess to know nothing about how the salary cap will work next season, but the variances between the salary tiers for this season weren't that great, and possibly not worth moving states for (although it's a bit presumptuous to assume that for sure).

At least we shouldn't lose any the Hawks - we all know Goddard doesn't rate us!

Collingwood did her acl i dont know if they would cut her while still rehabbing. Pauga is down the coast playing for bond, but was in the lions academy. Dont know how that works. But i expect Cam Joyce to clean a few out of GC. Their academy is stacked with talent, expect 5 or so maybe more to be picked up.

Hawthorn sack Alistair Clarkson and hire Bec Goddard, two interesting calls.

Two ACL's and a season potentially missed due to an earlier start. They may look to delist then redraft later possibly.

Pauga went to school at Narangba, played for Maroochydore, but got a footy scholarship to Bond.

The only players I can see us losing are Moloney and, maybe, Monahan and Woosh. Can't see any of the others going to new clubs where there's no player chemistry and where they will be in a situation where they go back to square one. We are a regular finals contender and we only just missed out on the GF this season (due to umpire error but I digress) and barring serious injury to most of the players I can't see how we miss out next season. Bigger money would certainly be attractive but would pale in comparison to team glory since money comes and goes but making history lasts forever.

Port would be silly not to plunder Adelaide's list. I hope Adelaide and Melbourne go through what we did when Gold coast and few other clubs showed up during last expansion.

Monahan seems pretty tight with the group and we dont have a replacement for her.

Players we've lost to other clubs since inception:

Brittany Gibson
Tahlia Randall
Jamie Stanton
Kaitlyn Ashmore
Tayla Harris
Sabrina Frederick
Kate McCarthy
Nat Exon
Sam Virgo
Lauren Bella
Jacqui Yorston
Emma Pittman
Kalinda Howarth
Jade Pregelj
Tories Groves-Little

And yet we still make finals so I'm not hugely worried if we lose a couple during this expansion period. Although, as I said in a previous post I don't think we will because we are a very successful team and players will want to be around that.

Also Leah Kaslar and Paige Parker. Although neither at GC now.
