I do not understand how Starce whinging would have meant players have stayed. Can anyone explain that?

And again, we lost 1 player. Most of our starting 22 could’ve switched clubs even without expansion teams if they wanted to.

And in the end the expansion teams will be pretty average and we’ll have a very strong season.

I understand the angst. Most of us on here thought the Suns would ruin us but we learnt from that experience

You realise all I did was question if it was a good idea for Starcevich to have a massive whinge about expansion teams having too much leverage to poach players when it wasn’t what actually happened and we probably have the strongest list far, far better than any expansion team?

Pretty sure he is, us being good right from the start certainly helped in retaining him.

Alan McConnell got turfed at the end of the past season - he was the only other one I recall off the top of my head.

Its part of the game and usually hasn’t worked well. Expansion clubs take a while to get going if they ever do and usually fans overreact

Unfortunately Starce going over the top on a non-issue reduces his clout for complaining about real issues and opens us up to question marks over whether we have an unfair advantage given that the new clubs were supposed to raid all the top talent and yet we lost 1 player who had family reasons to leave

Melbourne also did not lose anyone of real consequence and while Adelaide lost Erin Phillips, she was on her last legs anyway. Would argue they didn’t lose anyone of real consequence either. Only contending team I think that lost players of value is Fremantle.

I think starcevich was right to make the comments he did and the fact we did not lose a wave of players is a positive in light of his comment.

We were linked to one of GC’s delisted players before the AFLW trade period. I wonder if we’ll look at her.

Because it's not a full time league, the AFL allow the players to restrict where they head to by state so they don't need to move if they don't want to.
